Sew Nice...

Ever had one of those pages you 'saw' it in your mind's eye but getting it from brain to paper was just... 'uuuuh!' ???

This was one of those pages:

The idea came from a purchase of Chloe's Closet-Coasters (Rise and Shine Mini Tags). The rest was inspired by the bunches of vintage sewing sh-tuff I have in my stash... The 'photos' & journaling are printed on adhesive backed Cotton (Generations). Lovin' this stuff! I've had it awhile and been waiting for the right time to dig it out.

The S-M-L-XL theme was perfect for my 4 boys. I'd been humming and hawing over a way to get the 4 of them together, but separate in a layout. Voila!

I tried rub-on stitching before I went with the hand-stitched floss. It just didn't look 'right' I wanted more 'pow' and the needle was the last bit of inspiration.

But... it took me over a week.

1st the stitching wasn't right, then I needed the safety pins (2 AM inspiration but had to wait til morning to buy), then I needed the right color floss because lo-and behold it was the one color I didn't have... then I had to actually go buy a needle to 'leave' on the page (the one I stitched with was MUCH bigger).

The embellishments are all hand-sewn on then reinforced with a few drops of Crystal Effects. A lot of work but well worth the effort.

Simplicity... on the Cheap.

Just over a year ago I separated and am now travelling the much red-tape covered road of divorce...
At the time it was suggested I start an 'All About Me' album to record the changes and help in rediscovering 'Who is Sarah?'.

Yesterday I completed another addition.

This was actually inspired by the Stickers.

Yes... I'm one of those scrapbookers that still loooves her stickers... I find they don't work for every layout but for some... they are Magic.

This is a 12 X 12, single page Layout. Paper: Junkitz-Boys Collectionz, Stickers: Sandy Lion-Scrapbook and a few stick on Gems from the $ store. Computer journaling an SU! Confetti White Card Stock.

Easy, Simple and Cheap!

Paper: 25 cents (Bought on clearance when a local store was closing)

Stickers: $2

Gems: mere pennies... (pack of over a 100 for $1)

Result: Priceless!

lol... sorry couldn't resist.

This layout is about my 'mantra' song, 'All In Good Time' by Ron Sexmith. A song that has helped me through many a rough bump on this road. I'd been pondering on just how to do it... then I saw those stickers... I was out looking for embellishments for a Disney Album I'm completing for a client and these just jumped out at me... I left them sitting out were I could see them for almost a week before inspiration just seized me.

I'm very pleased with the end result.

Scrapbooking can be a very expensive hobby but sometimes we need to remember that simple, and cheap, can be just as beautiful too.

Well Hello... you found me!

I guess the best way to start of a 'virgin' blog is with a little bit of an introduction...

I'm Sarah.

Recently turned 33, almost divorced, Mom to 4 boys, resident of Ottawa, On, Canada.

I've been blogging for years over at Live Journal, you can catch me at:

Lipstick on the Coffee Cup... random thoughts from a caffeine dependent Mother.
Some days the cup is 1/2 empty... Some days it's 1/2 full.

But this blog is going to be something different...
I've seen and read many a 'Scrap-Blog' and the idea has always intrigued me. For what do we ply our craft if not to share? Thanks to the Internet, that audience has spread from a few relatives or friends flipping through albums over holidays in our living room, or a few 'oohs & ahhs' at any crops we attend, to the world. Hallelujah!

I love perusing other people's work and I hope that you enjoy your time here perusing mine.

I've started off by posting 2 slide shows. The 1st is of my scrap booking space, the other of some of the work I've done within the past year.

Enjoy! Hope to be seeing you around the neighbourhood...
