No Paper Lay-Out!

I did this 12 X 12 Layout for the Bad Girls No Papers!!! Challenge.
I... of course, made this harder for myself. lol...
I was hell bent on NO paper at all!
So I spent time pondering what to do...
ponder...
ponder...
Feeling a little like Winnie-the-Pooh. ;O)
It's photographed at angle because it ended up shiny.
I used a Fancy Pants Transparent Overlay which I worked on the back of to start.
Added some Making Memories (Chloe's Closet) canvas tags, trimming the metal eyelets off the top, so they'd lie flat. Attaching with Glue Dots.
The photograph is printed on a stiffened canvas sheet. Ready-made to run through a printer. Again, sorry with the angle it's really hard to see that.
I then painted acrylic paint over the swirls & stars on the overlay...
I wanted them to *pop*.
Added felt embellies, ribbon, bling-string, lace, yarn and the 'Play' Sign.
Then I put adhesive around all the edges and laid a layer of light Denim fabric on the back. Trimmed around the edges, not neat, I wanted the 'fluff & strings' showing.
Then flipped it over to the front, added some more ribbon & lace, finishing off by doodling around the photo and journaling with sharpies.

What to choose...??? Help!

We're in deep house de-grunging mode this year...
I want to get everything cleaned, de-cluttered, repaired and some major re-painting done before our Wedding in September.
I'm *almost* to the point of being able to pack-up my Craft Room for a total re-paint. My EX picked the dark, dark blue that's in there now... yuck!
Karma etc... demands a re-paint!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm totally open for ANY suggestions/ideas on colors...
What stimulates you?
What gets your creative juices going?
What doesn't work (drives you crazee after a week)?
HELP???!!!
Bad Girls Project 52 #12... 3D House.
I finally got the latest Bad Girls Project 52 Challenge done.
3~D Homes: {paper, board, fabric, box, metal etc.
Any material choice. All sides must be considered, Art in the round!!}
THEME: Dreams {past/present/future, actualized or not, night/day etc.}
REQUIRED MATERIAL: Buttons {any type/shape/size/number/color/material}
This is my take...
Welcome to Wits' End
I started with the roof... it's a coffee filter (3 actually) sprayed liberally with Indian Corn Glimmer Mist, then sprayed with clear coat shellac (lots & lots & lots) to stiffen it.
The house is a coffee can (Maxwell House... ew!) I painted with 2 coats of tan acrylic paint. I then wrapped a trimmed-to-fit Starbucks Bag around it. I really like the way it crinkled up... I put the bag on before the paint was totally dry (impatient! lol) and it looks really neat-o. The chimney is part of a Starbucks straw with a bit of torn lace 'smoke'.
The front door is part of Starbucks cup wrap (backwards) with a button door and ribbon hinges. Buttons for a walk-way... and climbing roses reaching up from the gardens... 'Gardens' created with Dried Flowers & Moss.
The base is a bio-degradable Planter Liner (like paper mache...) turned upside down.
Welcome to Wits' End sign... Popsicle stick punched with a Crop-o-Dile. Eyelets, broken necklace chain and brads finish it off...
The field of Baking Cup and Button flowers was inspired by THIS video. I found the mini-Cups and just had to get them... so cute!
Bunny in residence... of course!
The Mill Wheel is a piece out of the inside of a broken VCR-tape... the 'water' is blanket binding.
The Quote on the Starbucks bag is what inspired me for the 'Dream' Theme...
I loooooove fleurs & gardening & coffee! They are in my dreams quite often. ;O)
The field of daisies are Martha Stewart Wedding Confetti and the natural of the planter base.
Happy Squirrel on board!
Bird, Watering Can and Pansies.
Silly Feet!
Zipped off a quick page this morning...
I've been going through the pictures that the Tech was able to rescue off the FUBAR'd drive on my laptop.
(A year ago I lost almost 5 yrs worth of sh-tuff when my 'puter got Vista-d @@)
I got 20, 000+ pictures back... ALL of them in random order.
I'm going through trying to sort them back into events, but occasionally one jumps out here & there and I have to scrap it.
ADAD strikes again!!!
I had this one waiting when I saw the March Happy Feet challenge on From Screen 2 Scrap!
This is what I came up with:
Greg is a hopeless Peng-a-nin addict... they are infesting most corners of our house and I could NOT believe it when I found one for the Garden.
Summer...
Garden...
That just says *Penguin* to you???! lol
Added Criteria for a maximum of 6 points
1. A penguin on the page somewhere = 1pt CHECK!
2. Must have the word 'Feet' in the title = 2 pts CHECK!
3. White and Blue to be the dominant colors used = 3pts
You can use other colors but want to see mainly white and shades of blue :) CHECK!
Hey You'fer,.. Go for a Two'fer...
This Layout is for Gutter Girls #35 and the Bad Girls Scrap Lottery I.
For Gutter Girls I needed:
~Title/Theme: Road Trip
~Song: The Climb by Miley Cyrus
~Embellishment: Map
For Bad Girls I needed:
~Yellow
~Red
~Circles
~Hand Journaling
~Hearts
Journaling:
Every step I'm taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking
The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I'm not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going
And I, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on
~The Climb~ by Miley Cyrus
I have had quite the
Road Trip
so far in my life.
I can look at my body
and see the Map
of where I’ve been…
Which makes me who I
Am Today…
I would never
Change that.
I went a little crazee with the 3D Crystal Lacquer... which is still one of my favorite products.
The flowers, wings, hearts and crown were all Punch-Outs from a Fancy Pants Holiday Kit. I wanted a Shabby feel and they were poi-fect.
I covered the inside of the flowers and 1 of the hearts in 3D-CL and added dots on the crown tips.
The Map was one I printed out then I traced a Body form on the back and cut out.
Everything was 'aged' with ink rubbed around the edges.
Buttons, Fibres and some Lace to finish off.
WEEK 3 on the Bad Girls Party Bus!!!!
OMG... today is MY Day...
SHWEEEET!!!
I'm here!
with this:
*chinking champagne flute*
CHEERS!
Dark Bird... The Raven.
This is my Art for the Darkness Inspiration The Dark Birds: Crows & Ravens Challenge.
Another Artist's Postcard. This time it's a total collage work...
I used a Raven from the Suggested Site and the background from Cemerony and the Books I'm not sure where from were already on my 'puter...
I aged the background with ink and a bit of sanding, same with the books and words.
The Raven is coated in 3D Crystal Lacquer for a nice shiny epoxy look.
Words from Edgar Allan Poe's 'The Raven'.
Ra Ra...
Woot!
ARTastic Challenge... Artist Postcard.
Newbie attempt at another challenge... this time for the Artastic Challenge Blog
The inspo photo was this:
This was my take:
Another excuse to something with one of the Photos from our Betrothal Handfasting. ;O)
Liked the 'frame feel of the inspo pic so I went with an Art Nouveau free clip-art frame I found online... and a
background from the same place.
Really liked the 'circle' on the back ground, again influenced by the inspo pic.
Also tried to mimic the soft color by coloring in marker then spraying all with Glimmer Mist to soften everything out.
Finally for the 'halo of flowers' I actually used a piece from the inspo pic. (circle on the left, inside the bigger circle in the background)
Reverie - Criteria for March....
ARTastic Diva Demand... for an extra 6 bonus points
1. Use a cut out figurine from a photo = 1 pt CHECK (handfasting picture of Greg & I)
2. Make a halo using flowers around the figurines head = 2pts CHECK (Used a 'halo' from the side of the inspo picture!)
3. Use Art Nouveau style/designs on your layout = 3 pts CHECK (Art Nouveau Clip Art frame & background)
Art Journaling...
Yesterday and this morning were all about playing catch-up with my Art Journaling... I got a chance to throw some paint at the paper over March Break but not *think* on the elements and words...
This was for the prompt 'UN' from A Year in the life of an Art Journal.
Journaling:
I have been through so many
changes over the past 3 years...
Some good, some not so good... but
where does that leave me? I thought
I knew my STORY but then the pages
ahead got torn out... and the new
ones are blank. That leaves me
with a STORY that is as yet...
UN-written.
WHY? What do I do now?
Who am I? Where am I going?
What is my Story now?
This was last weeks prompt for Your life in Words 'My Wall'.
I always loved this picture, it was taken at the McKenzie King Estate last trip we made up.
Journaling:
I walk a road that keeps
going as long as I live... it twists...
it turns,,, it's dark... it's light...
but all along this road there has
been a WALL of supporting
people... friends, family
even strangers. When
I get weary walking
this road I can always
rest on
my WALL before
I continue on
my way.
~SCE~
This weeks prompt is 'Between'.
I decided to try some collage cut & paste work...
Journaling:
"You know that place between
sleep and awake, the place where
you can still remember dreaming?
That's where I'll always love
you, Peter Pan. That's
where I'll be waiting"
~Tinkerbell ~
#12 Lucky
Front:
A Story over 20 years in the making...
Back:
This was a SUPER easy prompt... Lucky by Jason Mraz is 'our' song. :O)
LUCKY
They don't know how long it takes
Waiting for a love like this
Every time we say goodbye
I wish we had one more kiss
I'll wait for you I promise you, I will
I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
I'm lucky we're in love in every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday
~Lucky~ By Jason Mraz
4 X 4 Friday... Spring.
My 1st attempt at a 4 X 4 Friday.
I must say it was harder than I thought...
I haven't done much 'small' work and going from 12 X 12 to 4 X 4 is a shrink, fer sure. ;O)
I started with a watercolor sketch out of my Butterfly Garden cut-up book, then I added a potpourri of stickers & chipboard.
I was going for 'cute'!
Horn Tooting!!!
I made the Bad Girls Party bus again this week!
For the Coffee Snob x4 page.
AND
My Domestic Goddess won the $20 Gift Certificate For the Project 52 Challenge!!!
Yeah Me!
Material Girl!
Ahhh... My Art MoJo is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaccccccccccckkk!!
March Break is O-V-E-R...
Much as I love da Boyz, 4 extra bodies around 24/7 is not conducive to creating...
unless general mess counts.
*wink*
I ferried everyone off to their respective locals and hit the Art Table.
I made this 12 X 12 page for The Bad Girls Challenges:
Scrap The Song & Repurpose those Security Envelopes.
lol... I would explain but I think the pictures can talk for themselves.
Full Page:
Hidden Journaling:
I don't throw anything out!
It drives my family nuts but
Happy St.Patty's!
I have enough Irish blood mixed in with my Scottish to appreciate ANY good occasion that may involve food, drink & merriment. I haven't had a chance to 'craft' anything today but didn't want to let the holiday slip by either...
On FaceBook I'm part of group called ~Artist 365~,
the idea being to do a little something to 'feed' your Muse each day in 2010.
Today I took pictures for this weeks theme: GREEN.
This is one of the static window clings on our front door:
I collect pretty glass bottles and put them in my kitchen window (LOTS of sun) filled with colored water... this is my Green one (purple & blue too):
I baked Leprechaun (mini-mini) cupcakes today.
8 dozen... 1 box of French Vanilla Cake mix (I'm the the QUEEN of short cuts!) flavored with creme de menthe and tinted with green food coloring.
Topped with pipped Cream Cheese icing (premade) whipped with more creme de menthe, food coloring and green sugar.
Then sprinkled with more green sugar.
The icing is a bit of a mess on most of them, my medical condition can cause shaky and/or stiff hands... but I'm sure they'll still taste good!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
