ARTastic May Design Team Page

Alas, all good things must come to an end.
May will be my last month as a Design Team Member with ARTastic.
********************************
Mays Inspiration will come
from the painting

Mother and Sarah Admiring the Baby - Mary Cassatt
(Below DT Project)

Diva Demand for an extra 6 bonus points try and
work the following into your layout.:
1. Single Photo of a mother, grandma, child etc....holding a baby = 1pt
2. Lace somewhere on the page = 2pts
3. Something orange = 3pts
**********
I dug deep and found these 2 pictures of Thomas (less than 6 months old) and his 'Aunt' Jenny. Jenny was being bad... as aunts tend to be *wink* and let Thomas play with an empty (ish) Coffee Cup. Like he EVER needed the extra caffeine!? lol

Paper and Lace are unknown
Inks and Markers are Stampin' Up!
'Biscuit' Journal Block was cut with a SLICE.
Stamps are Close to My Heart and Stampin' Up!
Coffee Cup and Doily are both Real.

I sliced a chunk out of a Coffee Cup and attached it (still curved) with a Glue Gun.
Hand cut the 'bite' out of the biscuit and added 'crumbs'.

Inspiration Avenue Weekly challenge - Royal and/or Wedding

Weekly challenge - Royal and/or Wedding

There's a big wedding happening in these parts later this week. It's the perfect excuse to get all regal, drag out the union jacks and put up some bunting.

Let's help our Kate & Wills celebrate their upcoming nuptials with some Royal Wedding-themed creations. (Though if you prefer, you could just use the themes 'royal' or 'wedding' on their own.

*********

Since we just got married in September I have a *few* Wedding supplies sitting around... just a few. ;O) Perfect chance to use some up that aren't 'quite right' for our Album. (ie. Not Celtic, Green or Blue)
Postcard Base, Inks and Markers are all Stampin' Up!
Pattern Paper is K&Company (wedding pad).
Stickers are DCWV.
This frackin' adorable digital stamp is a Freebie from:
http://sliekje.blogspot.com
I tried my best to match the hair color to the Betrothed Couple.

April ARTastic Design Team Page:

I decided with such lovely Autumn Themed Inspiration I'd scrap a picture from one of our traditional yearly Apple Picking excursions!
Pattern Paper, Paper Strips, 'Are We There Yet?' Sticker and Cloud Journal Block are all from Cosmo Cricket's: Nutmeg kit.
$ store metal embellishment under the sticker.
Apples are made from a Krafting Kimmie Stamp.
Ink and Marker are Stampin' Up!
The plastic 'Apple Picking' Bag was made from a scrap of page packaging: I cut the corner off a package that had held 12X12 papers, inserted some of the stamped Apples under the top layer and then wrote on the 'Bag' with Sharpies (to help show the layers).
The apples not in the 'bag' are coated in 3D Crystal Lacquer to make 'em nice and Shiny!

Dive Demands:
Clouds: on Journal Block and along 'Car' Paper Strip.
Trees: Background Paper
Autumn Colors: Throughout.

Up close of the 'plastic bag' detail...

ARTastic January Design Team Submission

January's inspiration will come from the painting 'Luncheon of the Boating Party' by Renoir

*************************************
mmmm... food! What a good topic. :O)
I decided to scrap the King of all Foodie-Celebrations: Thanksgiving.
We always have a veritable herd of family over, on top of the herd that already live under our roof. lol
Table laden down with a feast of:
ham, turkey, potatoes, turnip, carrots, olives,
apples, cranberry sauce, corn relish,
pineapples, salad and buns.
This is always my eldest son Arthur's favorite part:
The Food.
Though all da boyz kinda hang around, underfoot, as my Mom & I are getting the buffet meal laid out.

work the following into your layout.

1. a stable = 1pt

2. angel/s = 2pts

3. Gold embossing (Somewhere
on the page)=3 pts

******************************************
I drew inspiration from the rich, royal colors in this painting...
I scraped some pictures from the Live Jousts we watch every year at the Osgood Medieval Festival.
This man, playing Sir Eric or Ireland that year, is one of our favorite Jousters. Canadian (yeah!!!!) and always a Fan Favorite because he is also a very talented speaker, able to engage the crowds and promote audience participation.
Paper is DCWV Happily Ever After; as are the Epoxy stickers (mini blue corner dragons, shield, purple Celtic dragon and Knight on horseback), Crown Ribbon and the Knight & Shining Armor Rub-on (enhanced with 2 teal crystals).
The Stable is a photo of a medieval stable (located in France) printed on photo paper and cut out. I rubbed some blue chalk behind the image to bring it out a bit.
Swirly stamps in burgundy are Fancy Pants.
Key and Key hole are 7 Gypsies.
The Gold embossed Wings (Wing It) and Angel (Renaissance Angels) are Stampin'Up!, colored with chalks and a wet pen.

**************************************************************************
This month I used a picture of William (son #3) at the beach from last summer.
I started with Fancy Pants paper, then globbed blue paint on under the photo, bit of glimmer mist then topped with an overlay (also Fancy Pants).
The sand is real... sprinkled over 3D Crystal Lacquer. I made sure to overlap the stickers under the picture and down the side.
All on top of the overlay.
I also ran a bunch of mini-brads down the side to accent the overlay design.

The square was a blank canvas sticker (Technique Tuesday) I misted then stamped with the image (my seagulls) and sentiment:
'The best things in life are not free, but priceless' (Stampin'Up!).
'beach day' title was glimmer misted and attached over more blue paint, square stickers, bling and more sand.

October ARTastic DT page

October's inspiration will come from the painting
'A Summer Morning' by Rupert Bunny

Diva Demand for an extra 6 bonus points try and
work the following into your layout.
Shades of pink= 1 pt
Pink Rose/s = 2pts
White bird/s = 3pts

It turned out to be a LOT harder to do than I thought... I don't think any tears hit the actual page luckily. I almost changed my mind a few times but the pictures were printed and I really did want to get *this* page done.
I decided the soft colors of the Artwork lent themselves well to the Memorial Page I've been trying to get done for our much loved bunny Cleo we lost last year. Lots of pinks in there: ribbon, letters, flowers, her favorite blanket and of course the Pink Roses. Birds are hard to see but they are around The Rainbow Bridge Poem. There is also a fair bit of lace across the top and touches of bling here & there.

The Angels called home too soon.

The Rainbow Bridge

There is a bridge connecting heaven and earth. It is called the rainbow bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the rainbow bridge is a land of meadows, hills and valleys, all of it covered with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this lovely land. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. There, the old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole once more. They play all day with each other.

There is only one thing missing. They are not with the special person who loved them on earth. So each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly one stops playing and looks up! The eyes are staring! You have been seen, and that one suddenly runs from the group!

You take her or him into the eyes of your trusting pet.

Then, together, you cross the rainbow bridge, never again to be separated.

Our time with you was short, you were taken too soon.

Your passing left a bunny sized hole on our Family.

Please email your layouts compressed/resized for web viewing to shazzaalleyes@hotmail.com

I HAD to scrap my Brandy Gurl... she is my Baby Dog. My Daemon, always following me around.
This picture was taken *the* Christmas Day that Greg proposed. There was sooo much excitement going on around me and she wanted to be close, so she jumped up on the back of the couch and wrapped herself OVER my shoulders, like a puppy-fur collar. She has some claws on her I can tell you, ow! and she's no lap-dog. (husky-chow chow-lab mix)
Please excuse the Bunny nibble out of the bottom left corner... I think Hope was jealous I didn't scrap her. *giggle*
Chatterbox Chipboard tile title & corner pieces, puppy print strips cut from PP, Rub-Ons from Fancy Pants, 7 Gypsies ATC cards (dogs & list) orange Glimmer Misted, Felt flower is a coaster with the princess button in the middle and the Seed Packet was printed of Clip-Art (I cut it big and folded all the edges back to make it look like a 'real' packet... then ripped the corner so it looked used).

DT pages for ARTastic Challenge Blog

Diva demand for an extra 6 bonus points, try and work the following into your layout, card or OTP project ......
1. Sun or sunset = 1pt
2. Shades of blue and green on your layout = 2pts
3. A cut out black silhouette image = 3pts

**********************************************
These pictures were taken at the SteamPunk Science Fair recently put on by our Local SteamPunk group.
The beautiful doors of the old church, it was held in, were too much to resist while we were all dressed up!
I started with plain blue card stock, glimmer misted some of the TimHoltz Cogs&Gears Masks (hard to see but they're there, honest!) then a Stamped more cogs &gears on with the Gel-a-tins Shifting Gears set (one of my newest *toys*). I added the Verdigris Sun (clipart), a couple of keys (stickers) & the Gear Silhouettes (hand cut cardstock). The Soul Mates & Kindred Spirit are snip-outs from a Heartwarming Vintage Cuts sheet, Steampunk (clipart)and Green metal Family sign for the title.
So I have everything covered: Blue/Green, Cut-out Silhouettes and a Sun!

Journaling:

SteamPunk Family
Excerpt from the Diary of Lady Dr. S.Elliott:
We are on a mission to find my ‘Husband’.
Though truthfully I am already a Widow…
He was attacked by a Vampyre and no body was even found.
We know he is still out there and until we truly kill him we will search through time, hunting the hunter.
Killing any other unholy demons we encounter in our Travels… May God Be with Us…

Steampunk

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction and speculative fiction, that came into prominence during the 1980s and early 1990s. The term denotes fictional works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used — usually the 19th century, and often Victorian era Britain — but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, often featuring futuristic technology as the people of this historical period would have envisioned it to look like, i.e. based on a Victorian perspective on fashion, culture, architectural style, art, etc. This technology may include fictional machines like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or real technological developments like the computer, but occurring at an earlier date.
Other examples of steampunk contain alternate history-style presentations of "the path not taken" for such technology as dirigibles, analog computers, or digital mechanical computers (such as Charles Babbage's Analytical engine).

ARTastic Challenge Blog & FS2S! for May.

For ARTastic Challenge Blog:
This months inspiration is 'The Kangaroo' by Garry Shead and DH Lawrence.
The requirements were:
An animal on the page for 2 points: Check!
IF it's an Australian Animal there's a bonus 1 point: Check!

lol... I think I met the extra Bonus quite well...
I was looking for ideas and I stumbled upon The Australian Animal Tarot Deck.
It's gorgeous! So I used 9 different Aussie Animals on my page. :O)
Wondering... if my future is in the cards???

The Main title is Gold Thickers and the rest is written in Sakura Glue Pen, then coated in fine Gold Glitter. Background paper from DCWV 'Once Upon a Time' set.

For From Screen 2 Scrap!:
The Inspiration poster was Fried Green Tomatoes.
The requirements were:
Green Title: Check!
Green & Red as 'featured' colors: Check!
A Tomato somewhere on the page: Check!

I went with a sewing theme... the 1st Tomato thing I thought of was the infamous Tomato Pincushion. I um... did wound one in the making of this page.
I sliced it in 1/2 then attached it to the page along with a thimble, part of a measuring tape, buttons, thread, needle and... of course, some pins! ;O)
The background is 'patched' together out of Photos and Paper. The Stitching between the patches is Liquid Applique I let dry over night then heated to make it 'puff'.
ALL the title is Hand-Stitched (Can you say "owww!!!") with Green Plastic Canvas Wool and Red Embroidery Floss. I ran some lighter Green Paint over the Title to give it a little more 'pop'.
A Family is Patchwork of Love!!!
