Postcard Challenge 2012 Week 14: SINGAPORE

Late, late, late... again... but done!

This week I used an image of a rather unique sculpture that stands just outside the SAM: Singapore Art Museum on the right,  the one on the left is from outside the Superman Museum in Metropolis.

It reads:

"Things are HOT at the SAM: Singapore Art Museum"

This week Charity was writing to Duke:

Postcard Challenge 2012 Week 12: Israel

That was a hard one! So many negative images came up on the search, I wanted Happy and Positive.

Think it was achieved...

Image of young students, Israel's bright future, overlaid with Heat Embossing.

The Star is from the 'Shalom!' Set made by Close to my Heart, then I free-hand (read: smeared) the stripes.

This week Charity is writing to Duke and it looks like her time travel band is back to working like a charm! (...for now...)

Postcard Challenge 2012 Week 10: CANADA!

Home Sweet Home!
Should be easy right?
... you think I could get it in on time?
nope.

Problem was I *knew* we had this great photo in the extra storage drive that's been having a big'ol Diva hissy-fit this week, blocking everyone out at random moments. Beat it into submission today, huzzah!
Sooo... here it is:
Stamps on the front are all Stampin'Up! 'I Love Canada' set.
Picture's from the Mosaika performance here in Ottawa on Parliament Hill. http://mosaika-sl.ca/mosaika.asp?lang=en

Word Stamps on the back are Studio G and the Maple Leaf is from the SU! set.
Ohhh no... it looks like Charity's time travel band did goof-up... dropping her in a dangerous situation!

Postcard Challenge 2012 Week 9: Switzerland

I'm late... ack!
Last week as many of you know has been stressful after a certain 'tool' got sh-tuck in the works.
hmm...
Tools... Swiss... Gotta assemble it quick...
Bingo!
eh... and I'm just a dumb Canadi-un who's never been more than 6 hours drive from home. Sweden vrs Switzerland. ooops.

Luckily I am a resourceful Canadi-un... and stubborn!

2nd front:
The original ooops:
IKEA Make-it-Yourself Postcard, complete with visual only instructions.

This week Douglas 'Duke' Murphy is writing to Ms. Charity.
Looks like he hasn't received her last postcard, the one explaining her time-travel band was starting to malfunction... oh dear.

Postcard Challenge 2012 Week 8: Cuba

Went sh-exy for this weeks Postcard front... Super inspired (musta been that recent Sexapalooza event...) and went the Cuban Heel route with some extra sinful smokes to round things out. ;)

This week Charity is writing to Douglas.
oooo... it looks like she had some trouble with her time streaming device.
Let's hope that doesn't get any worse or she could wind up in the wrong place or the wrong time in the future... or is that the past...

Postcard Challenge 2012 Week 7: Wales

*squeed!* when I saw the theme this week...
Wales... Welsh... Welsh Corgis! Logical thought pattern for someone who was born to parents that have never been without a Corgi in da'house. lol

Went 'fun' on this card, been a lousy week of sick here...
*I* need the cheery grin-age.

This week had Duke traveling to 1925 for a Dog Show.

Postcard Challenge 2012 Week 6: Belgium

Week 6 and finally up to date...
Still book-less, but at least *all* the cards are done.

Week 6 at the Postcard Challenge 2012 is Belgium:

mmm... chocolate... rawr!

Charity's turn to write to Duke:

Postcard Challenge 2012: ~ Austria ~ Spain ~ Brazil ~ Chine ~ France ~

Yesterday I got a chance to get all caught up with the Postcard 2012 Challenge over at Art & Sole... what a lovely project idea!
The 'meat' of the project info is HERE.
FAQ section is HERE.

My 2 characters are Time Travelers, recording events in journals (which I *may* make too... we'll see...), planning to see each other again when their separate 'research and record' is all done. They are writing each other at neighboring PO Box's in London. Busy enough location to slip in and out of to gather correspondence without looking too out of time, er... place.
...and that's all I'm saying. The Story will unfold over the year on their postcards.

Found scanned images of stamps from each country for the back...
Need to find some postal rubber stamps though, only have 1 and I dislike the carbon-copy repetition over several countries. The Time Travel aspect means I'm not sh-tuck in any century for images on the cards or the stamps (prices, images etc...) I like that. :O)
In my 'travels' I found many useful images at:
Vintage Printables

The Story of Douglas 'Duke' Murphy and Charity Browne has begun...

Book of Days: January 31st

Super happy with how today's lil bit of the book turned out...
*squee* Favorite day so far!

Used a 4X6" piece of art I made for the Try it on Tuesday Blog Challenge yesterday and made a flippy part in my Book of Days. Today I got Happy Mail from Debbie Prewitt... yummy Celtic card and envelope wrapped around some even yummier supplies. As anyone who 'knows' me knows I LOVE Celtic. In order to save the gorgeous envelope I used it today on the flip-side of the 4X6 Art. My main goal this year with my Art is to use what I have and what comes my way... Today is a great example!

Double Good News... Happy Mail AND I've been asked to write up a tutorial for Toucan Scraps Tutorial Blog on how I make *my style* of Journal Pages. Have 2 write-up for the March issue of Scrapbooking.com to get written in the next 2 days then I'm going to start working away on that ASAP!
It's a goooood week. :O) and a GREAT end to January.

Speaking of tutorials this is how today unfurled:
First I ran a strip of masking tape along the back of the 4X6" art...

Then I flipped it over and glued the envelope to the back,
trimmed the excess away... This way the tape was covered up.

Then I painted light green over my address, let it dry then a daub of white too.
Journaled and then taped it into my Book of Days.

Try it on Tuesday: "In the mail"

Hurrah its a wild card week

So with an extra Tuesday in January we have our first wild card of the year!

This week we would like you to interpret the theme

"In the mail"
************
Decided it's been a bit since I made a 4X6 Postcard size piece...
An almost quasi-mythical thing,
much like Miss. Unicorn herself.
Clip-Art from Dover and Flickr Collage Group.
Pattern paper from DCWV.

Aftermath Bound!

I'm all packed! ... I think... maybe... possibly...
Still need to pack nourishment, but all the art-sy sh-tuff is ready to go.

I'll be here tomorrow:
The Aftermath Vendors event
Hosted by Ottawa Goth Syndicate
Kent Street Legion - Garrison Sergeant Hall
330 Kent St, 2nd Floor, Ottawa
January 28 (1PM - 9 PM)
http://www.ottawagoth.ca/reddeathmasquerade
Only $2 to get-in!

Hence the 'special' store logo:

Today I spent much of the day getting high... on enamel fumes. ;OP
Made up a batch of CD Pins; the ones made from smashed up CD's and DVD's.
I do sooo love how they look but they are a stinky, burn your hands, phone on hold-need to work quickly or they spoil, holy-what-a-frakin'-mess! project.
Reserved for Special Occasions only. ;O)

These are the backs...
I always put the printed side out so peeps can see what they were.
Hard to find those AOL disks anymore, lol.
Shiny side forward, looks so perrrty coming through the enamel.

The finished batch waiting for the glue to finish drying on the pin-backs.
Shiny!

...and a step to the right...

...and then to the left.

All mounted on Tag-Backs and pinned to a mini-display board.

Spend yesterday... and a bit of this morning, pinning stuff to boards:
WITHOUT Pinterest!
Have the 2 boards going, a few other lil' projects and Portal #2: Welcome to Wonderland (not pictured).
Really looking forward to it!
If your in Ottawa, maybe I'll see you there?
:O)
