Haunted Design House Macabre Monday HDH086: Alone in the Dark

HDH086 - Alone in the Dark

"Alone in the Dark"

You are to
create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based project using a black or eerily dark background for your main image.
*************

Last one before we leave... promise!!!
I'm NOT missing my own Honeymoon Trip. ;O)
But...
I also can't leave without doing one of my favorite challenges.
I'm a goof... lol.
Postcard:
Deep Burgundy Cardtsock inked in Deep Red, Burgundy and Dark Brown.
Then stamped over in Black with a background stamp (canvas).
Image from an old Halloween flyer (picture of a prop) SO glad I saved that one!
Final touch the Raven Stamps.

Incorporate UNDERWEAR somewhere in your collage.

Quick postcard before leaving so I don't miss this week's challenge:
Yummy Shorts!

April Darker Side Challenge @Scrapbook.com: Springtime!

This month’s challenge topic will be Spring Time. You can interpret this any which way you like. Here are a couple of hints: use darker colors as substitutes for colors you'd normally use for spring or focus on the "time" part of the challenge more than the "spring."
Let your imagination and your dark side loose!
Have fun! I
can’t wait to see what you all will come up with!

***********************
I apologize for photos with the paint still wet...
We're leaving within the hour for our belated Honeymoon Trip!
Yes, Yes...
I'm a psycho squeezing in more scrapping before.
This page has driven me bonkers... I had the pictures picked and it just wasn't working.
I finally stumbled on some 'word art' from
Elegant Word Art by Bethany and *ding!* it finally worked.
Cardstock is The Paper Company.
Rubbed with Stampin' Up! Inks.
Then Deco Art paint was smeared on and the photos were pressed into the wet paint. I love this look, the paint bubbles over the edge leaving the photo in a 'puddle', Mud Puddle in this case! lol
Dirt Piles, Titles and Journal Block are liiiiiberally sprayed and splattered in Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and inked.
Garden Tool Stickers are from the $ store.

One Powerful Hour: Tree of Life

The Theme this week at One Powerful Hour is:
Tree of Life

*************
I found this wonderful quote to use...
My Blank Note Card kinda 'grew' from there.

"All theory, dear friend, is gray,
but the golden tree of life springs ever green."
~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe~

Corrugated Cardboard is a Starbucks Cup Wrap.
Quote was crumpled, then flattened before inking.
I used a Digital Stamp for the tree, re-coloring it in black (it was dark gray) along the branches & trunk.
Martha Stewart Glitter Glue and 2 shades of Green Glitter for the Tree 'leaves'.
When all that was dry...
3D Crystal Lacquer dripped on thick for the 'fruit', then covered in Gold Glitter.
All inks are Stampin' Up!
Card-base/Envelope are DCWV.

April Steampunk Challenge @Scrapbook.com: April Showers

This month’s topic is April Showers.
You know the old saying April Showers bring May flowers?
That is what inspired me for this month's topic.
You can interpret the topic any way you wish.
Just remember to add a Steampunk twist!
**********
This page actually shaped itself out of another Challenge...
I made the Tag for a challenge at:
DragonsDream.
I decided to use papers from the rest of the kit. So you coooould say the Tag was the 'seed' this page grew from. The raindrops are made using punched hearts cut in half, then rounded a bit.
All Papers, Stickers, Journal Block and Tag Elements are K&Company.
Stamps are EK Success and The Rubber Cafe.
Inks and Markers are Stampin' Up!
3D Crystal Lacquer on the Clock.

Stampalot April Challenge: Ladies & Fashion

Stampalot April Challenge

I wonder what you will come up with for this one, I can see so many possibilities and am so looking forward to seeing all your entries.

Seeing as we're leaving for the Canadian Steampunk Expo tomorrow... this was a 'timely' choice.
Digital Stamp from Simply Betty (Steampunk Romance).
Dress-form Rubber Stamp from The Rubber Cafe.
Gear Punch, Papers and Inks from Stampin' Up!
Real Doily. :O)
Markers from Pentel and Stampin' Up!

Inspiration Avenue Weekly challenge - Royal and/or Wedding

Weekly challenge - Royal and/or Wedding

There's a big wedding happening in these parts later this week. It's the perfect excuse to get all regal, drag out the union jacks and put up some bunting.

Let's help our Kate & Wills celebrate their upcoming nuptials with some Royal Wedding-themed creations. (Though if you prefer, you could just use the themes 'royal' or 'wedding' on their own.

*********

Since we just got married in September I have a *few* Wedding supplies sitting around... just a few. ;O) Perfect chance to use some up that aren't 'quite right' for our Album. (ie. Not Celtic, Green or Blue)
Postcard Base, Inks and Markers are all Stampin' Up!
Pattern Paper is K&Company (wedding pad).
Stickers are DCWV.
This frackin' adorable digital stamp is a Freebie from:

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday? #99

Answer this week: Waaaaaaay too much to do!!!
{ insert Panic attack here}
I'm leaving tomorrow for the Canadian National Steampunk Expo... also our belated Honeymoon Trip. *wink wink*
The worse of it is we havn't even started packing! Greg got the Suitcases from his Grandmothe's House last night. I get to pack for us both...
Today he's taking the 8-10 hour round trip drive to North Bay to get my Art Back from the Steampunk Show. It's going up with us to be displayed at CNSE.
I'm counting the minutes til the kids are off to school, sipping my caffeine power-up and getting organized, making lists etc...

This weeks Mess:
Pictures for The Darkside and Steampunk Challenge at Scrapbook.com, One Powerful Hour DT project (start) drying, Stampsalot challenge (from last week still not done), pictures ready for ARTastic and Scrap Our Stash DT sh-tuff... and a few other challenges I *HOPE* to get done in time.

The LIST:
Really a 'To-Do' List... but fast becoming a 'Wish' List!
If it's yellow it needs to be finished before we leave.

The Steam-y Sh-tuff:
Bits and pieces of costuming that needs some tweaking or repair.
Shoelaces for my boots, Bowler decor needs a touch-up, same for the paint on my Gun, still working on a decor piece for Mini-Top Hat.
The List for the Sitter too... meds, rules and regulations! lol

Yesterday's Mail:
***SQUEEE!!!!***
Greg bought me this watch for my birthday and in my wildest dreams I didn't expect to actually HAVE it for the CNSE!!!!
I love it beyond words...
Brass, Watch, Book and a Bunny...
It's perfect.

All excited... can't wait to get going!
Happy Honeymoon!!!!
~Sarah~

Egg-Xactly!

I've taken a few days to simply *be* with the family.
Planned a few work-ishy things over the weekend then decided to 'take' the weekend back instead.
So glad I did...
The challenges, Etsy parcels & posting and my Studio could all wait.
I feel relaxed and content for the 'time off'.
****************
Greg's Family from the US came up to visit his Grandmother, Cupper, who recently fell and broke her pelvis. She's at a re-hab facility getting back on her feet... literally. Spunky lass of 94 who can't wait to get home!
Greg and I also went to go visit her yesterday and she's doing FAB-u-lous. Ran into Greg's Aunt Pat there too so it was a nice all around visit.
*******************************
Friday:
Started with an Easter Egg Hunt set up by my parents in their basement.
We had a Big Family Dinner (Mom's turn to cook!) in my parent wee little (1 bedroom) house with 13 people in total. lol... talk about cozy, in a good way. :O) We did the traditional 'Holiday Cupcake Buffet' too.
Then a wonderful evening with friends, Chinese take-out and a controversial Documentary... Which as usual, leads to the best 'discussions'!

*********************
Saturday

was a whirlwind:

Lunch at Swiss Chalet then Good-Bye-s to the US crew as they were heading back home, hoping to catch the travelers 'hole' between Good Friday and Easter. (UGGG!!!) Last Minute shopping. Then Egg Decorating, Pizza and a Movie with my parents.

*****************************
Sunday:

Due to a mess up along the way when Greg's schedule changed, somebody in booking key-stroked the wrong weekend, meant our Easter Miracle was having him home both Saturday AND Sunday to be with us.
It was wonderful. We had Easter Brunch here (My turn to cook!), Candy Chaos in the morning and then a relaxed 'just us' dinner in the evening.

Lots of Netflix Catch-up of Firefly, Dollhouse and Heroes too!
****************
But now... back to the grind. :O)
I need to complete all my April Project before Wednesday Night.
Thursday we're leaving for our HONEYMOON!!!!
Weekend full of Steampunk-ery at the Canadian National Steampunk Expo.
Packing has barely started too.
Short but buuuuusy week ahead!
