Book of Days: April 7th and 8th

Now that the 3 day Good Friday page is done, got a chance to catch-up on the rest of Easter weekend. :)

Used some scrap paper for the cross 'mask' and the bunny was from a shaped note pad. Glimmer mist applied liberally in rainbow order... extra blue over the masked areas at the end. 

April 7th:

Spent the better part of the day 'building' BOD Row Houses.

Grabbed snips and bits leftover from the making for today's spot...

Ribbom trim from the roofs, bunny punch, Celtic Knot stamp and a snip of the 'garden' border sticker. The backing is the packaging from some Petaloo paper flowers.

Book of Days: Good Friday April 6th

I'm a little behind in my Book of Days... This spread was burning a hole in my brain to get done but I needed a few elements. On Friday we attended our Kinship's Sensory Service. This, as all our meetings are, was at someone's house... this time our Pastor and his family. There were several 'stations' set up to roam around to and worship as we were led by Spirit. One of the Stations was a Reflection Station with a large mirror and 2 transparency pictures 1 of Christ and 1 of a person in despair plus the quote:

When we Christians lift our eyes to the face of the Crucified One, we contemplate the fathomless love of God poured out unto death for our salvation. If we look more carefully, we will soon find in this face that of so many other crucified ones who, close to us or far away, are asking for our compassionate love and solidarity.

We could look through the the pictures and see our own faces through the images... it really moved me. 

Had to wait to get the correct quote via email (Saturday) and since I was doing an image transfer that needed to dry overnight I couldn't complete the page til today. 

Image transferred is of a graffiti wall in Berlin full of people's faces, all in despair. Cut the face shape out and neck separately and used wood sealer as my transfer medium. Let it dry overnight then wet the paper and scraped the excess off. 

Face outline  is drawn on with charcoal. Crown of Thorns is paint applied with the side of a palette knife. Blood is Scarlet Glimmer Mist, dripped on while my book was upright, using the tip of the feeder tube inside the bottle. 

Background is marker scribbled, wet down and then some light paint washing sponged on.  

 

Scrap Our Stash Design Team Page: April SPRING FLING Challenge

My poor work table is a mess after this month's Topic, but a pretty mess. 

I decided to make Spring Fling about flinging Spring colored Paint... all over my page. 

When I started I envisioned a magazine/catalog style layout, clean (um, despite the splattered paint, lol) simple and letting the pictures tell the story. 

 Also a good excuse to get last year's Easter Egg pictures scrapped before this year's pictures are waiting in my laptop too. Really glad I did too! Within minutes of finishing 3 of my 4 boyz came into the Studio, started ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the page and looking for their eggs in the big picture. 

Nice reminder that *this* is why we scrapbook.  

I started with a plain white page, wow... I *never* use these so, of course, I had lots in my stash gathering dust. Then I chose 4 DecoArt Acrylic paints to fling: Violet Pearl (shiny!), Tutti Fruitti (doncha' just love the name of this pink?!), Daffodil Yellow (more spring!) and Tropical Green.

Dribbled a bit right onto the paper from each bottle as well as adding a few drops of water in a metal $1 store sauce cup (use these a lot) to make it a little thinner for easier splattering. 

Then I started flinging! 

Should have waited a few hours for it all to dry, but I didn't... so there's a smear here and there. ooops. 

The picture 'strip' was printed out in 2 parts then overlapped on some light blue textured cardstock (bazzill?) the main picture was matted with the same paper, inked around all the edges. Behind the picture strip is a scrap of packaging from some 12X12 papers, the company was nice enough to pattern the inside of their packaging and I'm just cheap enough to have saved it. ;O) 

The rest of the colored strips are Stampin'Up! stickers from the Sell-a-bration freebie kit from, uh 2 years ago?... I think. More stash stuff that needed using up.

The title is computer printed (Japan font) and then I traced over areas I wanted more defined with a back Gel-Roll Pen. Final touch was the bright pink Pearl Gems from the $ store.

 

So clean and white... not for long...

I've taken a few days to simply *be* with the family.

Planned a few work-ishy things over the weekend then decided to 'take' the weekend back instead.
So glad I did...
The challenges, Etsy parcels & posting and my Studio could all wait.
I feel relaxed and content for the 'time off'.

Greg's Family from the US came up to visit his Grandmother, Cupper, who recently fell and broke her pelvis. She's at a re-hab facility getting back on her feet... literally. Spunky lass of 94 who can't wait to get home!
Greg and I also went to go visit her yesterday and she's doing FAB-u-lous. Ran into Greg's Aunt Pat there too so it was a nice all around visit.

Friday:
Started with an Easter Egg Hunt set up by my parents in their basement.
We had a Big Family Dinner (Mom's turn to cook!) in my parent wee little (1 bedroom) house with 13 people in total. lol... talk about cozy, in a good way. :O) We did the traditional 'Holiday Cupcake Buffet' too.
Then a wonderful evening with friends, Chinese take-out and a controversial Documentary... Which as usual, leads to the best 'discussions'!

Saturday
was a whirlwind:
Lunch at Swiss Chalet then Good-Bye-s to the US crew as they were heading back home, hoping to catch the travelers 'hole' between Good Friday and Easter. (UGGG!!!) Last Minute shopping. Then Egg Decorating, Pizza and a Movie with my parents.

Sunday:
Due to a mess up along the way when Greg's schedule changed, somebody in booking key-stroked the wrong weekend, meant our Easter Miracle was having him home both Saturday AND Sunday to be with us. It was wonderful. We had Easter Brunch here (My turn to cook!), Candy Chaos in the morning and then a relaxed 'just us' dinner in the evening.



Lots of Netflix Catch-up of Firefly, Dollhouse and Heroes too!

But now... back to the grind. :O)
I need to complete all my April Project before Wednesday Night.
Thursday we're leaving for our HONEYMOON!!!!
Weekend full of Steampunk-ery at the Canadian National Steampunk Expo.
Packing has barely started too.
Short but buuuuusy week ahead!
