I was inspired by just the colors to start...
Got me thinking of our recent trip to the beach at sunset. Greg wanted to get photos with his new camera at 'golden hour' and we all went...
4 cameras, 4 kids, sand toys, towels and full of stress.
Came home wet, sandy, happy and totally relaxed.
The evening was a wonderful gift of respite.
Topped off *perfectly* by seeing a Rainbow while out on the Rock Piers.
(You can see it between Robert and I in the photo.)

Once I started looking for paper it moved into also emulating the color 'blocks': you can see the comparison if you turn the book on it's side, to the right (minus the white strip the title was on).
I kept the embellishments clean and simple.
The laser woodcuts from Kaisercraft.
They have a relaxed, organic feel:

We all have dreams! We use to dream as a child of what we wanted to be when we grew up! We now dream of our goals (vacation, fitness, job, house, etc), hopes for our children/family or maybe a new scrappy item to add to your collection!
Lets create a layout based on a ‘dream’ we have had or currently have! Be creative!

Dig into your stash or open up one of those new paper packs you have by dying to use and let see dreams!

I decided to focus on the pup's dreams for this page...
One of my favorite pictures of Brandy and Hero napping on the couch together.
All the he papers are from a kit I got ages ago at Wal-Mart (exclusive to them thing).
The BIG stickers are BoBunny.
The Little ones are unknown ($ store)
Ribbon (collar) and Ink by Stampin' Up!
Marker was a Sharpie.

ScrapFIT #35: Scrap It With Your Scraps!

Scrap It With Your Scraps!

Workout #35 is all about using what you have!!!
So let’s use those scraps!
For this challenge you must use only scraps!!!
Pick a piece of card stock to start with and than grab those scraps.
Let’s even make some embellishments using our scraps!
You also need to dig through your left over alphabets to create a mixed alphabet title.

I can honestly say I've never had as much FUN constructing a page before. lol
For a change I'll start with the Journaling... might explain this page a bit:
GIFTWRAP SURFING!
Tradition at our house
is to NOT throw any of
the giftwrap away while
opening presents Christmas
Morning... That way there
is a HUGE pile to Surf in!

I was able to almost exclusively use scraps on this LO.
I shredded and scrunched and ripped up Christmas Pattern Paper
bits from other layouts and my December Daily Album.
I'm super glad I'm such a hoarder of bits'n'pieces!
Even the Smaller Tags (used to 'hold' the title) were scraps,
I had messed up the back on them but kept JIC.
The title is a mix of alphabets that came with 2 different 'kits' and 1 Thicker (!)
A few scattered bits of ribbon and some rescued Bows and it was complete.

ScrapFIT Workout #32: All About Numbers

Workout #32 is All About Numbers and its Heather's 1 Year Anniversary of owning 3 Scrappy Boys so we have an extra special WORKOUT!!
3 Scrappy Boys is one of my favorite places to shop and chat so I was so excited that she wanted scrapFIT to share in celebrating her anniversary!

Now for all the details:

WO #32 A Numbers Challenge

2 types of alpha's

The last of the Boyz Halloween pages is now done!
Robert had soooo many good shots while he was in costume so I saved his page for this challenge... Even then picking the 5 best was in itself a challenge. lol
1. Cardstock: Orange inked up with Dark Yellow as a base
2. 'Future' (at top) and 'Robert' (at bottom) both American Crafts stcickers.
3. Rub-Ons: 'Jedi in Training', 'HERO', 'The Force is Strong With This One', Black Jedi Logo, Bling! (Crsytals in clear and gold) all over... and red Mini-Brads in 3's.
4. Star Wars words (main backing) chopped up bit of Darth Vader paper (Top & Bottom Right), Silver Stripe & Star Strip (across bottom) and Yellow Speckled (behind largest Photo, top left).
5. 5 Photos... after much debate! lol

ScrapFIT Workout #25 "WET-n-WILD"
For this workout you need to use
mist, paint, stickles, ink--- any or all of them!!
For an added twist I want you to get some paper wet,
create something with it and than use it in your LO.
Example—make a flower, fold it, pleat it, ect.

*rubbing hands together*
ie. Get Messy! I can do that... ;O)
I ended up playing with Paint & Glimmer Mist.
My 'made from wet' item is the corrugated cardboard flowers.
They are made from the wraps that come around my Starbucks coffee.
I spritzed them with Mist and when they were dried I tacked a template on the front of the cup wrap then cut the flowers out.
Then I gave them another misting, focusing around the raw edges to get the color to bleed into the cardboard layers.
Misted the page base and all the layered paper elements, which are book pages, even the photo mat. :O)
Painted on the flower stem and leaves.
Tucked in a Brass Bookmark.

---since this is our last WO together with the current FITgirl Team I want you to pick a favorite LO by a FITgirl and “lift” it, but change it up somehow.

I choose Heather's LO from WO #6: Checkers (October)
I really liked the uncluttered look... so very, very unlike my usually FULL pages.
The fact that it was an engagement picture caught my attention.

This was my take...
The picture is from our Betrothal Handfasting Ceremony. We're getting married this year, September 25th 2010... so soon!
I flipped the picture and paper strips because my photo was tall as opposed to wide. I kept the circle where it was but moved the 2 embellishments, hand journaling and title to keep them circling the photo.
Background is Kraft spritz with Red Glimmer Mist (bit of green under the title). Pattern Paper is all DCWV 'Happily Ever After'.
Titles and embellishments are all Little Yellow Bicycle 'Love Letters'.
I just LOVE that the title was the same shape and I'm very in love with the mini-calender I was able to set the date on myself.

ScrapFIT Mini Workout #2: Tag!

That time of year again... Teacher's Gifts!
Because my kids are in a very small school (less than 200 kids) all the teachers end up working with all the students at some time or another. This always leaves me in a bit of a conondrum at Gift Time. So... I make a little something for everyone who works at the school from the Principal down to the Custodian. Not much... a nice tag and a wee gift (usually baking or a craft).
This time it's especially bitter sweet, we're changing schools next year...
so it's the final Thank-You/Good-Bye. :O(
I decided to make Tags for ScrapFit Mini Workout #2 and they will be going on the Gifts this week.
I used the Family SteamPunk Picture from our Science Fair Outing as the main focus.
Added some beautiful Burgundy, Gold & Navy Fibre , inked the edges and added a key & lock.

ScrapFIT: Workout #21... Machine.

This is for ScrapFIT: Workout #21... Machine

You needed to use a machine of some sort in creating your layout.
I used a Sewing Machine.
I also used this Sketch from over at For the Luv of Art
I liked the strips of sewing and thought it would work well for the ribbons I wanted to attach.

These are pictures from the Celtic Betrothal Handfasting Ceremony we held last September.
We were supposed to be married that day but one of my sons had major medical issues over the year so we decided to postpone the wedding for a year, so we'd have time to prepare.
We wanted to celebrate since a year's a long time to wait, so we held a Bethrothal Handfasting Ceremony.
Our Pastor blessed our vow to be married a year from the day, all our friends & family publicly promised to help us keep our vow and then everyone there (and a few that were sent in lieu) tied their own ribbon around our joined hands to help seal the Vow.
Then we parties Celtic Style lost of cider, spice cake and fiddly-diddly music.
It was a Very Special Day.

Create a Layout using the site's banner as your inspiration!

This the Banner:

and... this is my page:

I started with a pale yellow CardStock... I stamped it with polka dots in white, heat embossed with pale yellow. I then rubbed white chalk over large portions of the page and grey in stripes You can see the background of the LogoBanner better on-site...
BIGGER is better! lol
I then stamped on a french script stamp lightly with a pale, pale grey, here & there.
I smudged in white paint under the spot for the photo and around the edges of the page.

I copied the mixed-letter title from the Banner... GREAT use for leftover rub-ons.
Some of the title is Rub-Ons and some are embossed stamped letters.
My journaling is in the same blue as the banner.
The Flags are also stamped with the white ink, heat embossed with the pale yellow, hung on a black hemp 'rope'.
Finishing off the page base by rubbing a darker yellow chalk over sections.
MESSY HANDS!!!

Recycling Made Fun
Use Ur Stash... nothing new allowed!
I went digging through and decided to FINALLY use up some of this Kit I'd been given at least 3 years ago as a birthday gift...
You know them, the $29.99 (contains a million & six pieces) kits from Wal-Mart.
Paper, letter stickers, stickers, tags, tags and more tags... frames and other kibble & bits.
All pre-coordinated.
I used these 2 hilarious pictures of Thomas messing around with the BIG Tea Ball I got for some of our SteamPunk ventures. He was glad to pose for the pictures at the time... lol, once the girlfriends see he may change his mind. ;O)
I'm an Evil Scrapbooking Mom!
The letters are Thickers, sanded down a bit... and the screw head brads and Cogs are all part of my regular stash, the rest ALL came from the kit.
...and being me, I inked the ever luvin' heck out of all of it. ;O)

Then there was a Mini Challenge!
Use up some of the scraps to make a card.
So I used of the rest of the main pattern paper from the LO background and lots & lots of the extra frames, tags & titles that came with the kit. Even the brads were part of the original kit.
I like this card so much I might not part with it! ;O)

Today, Saturday April 19th 2008. sometime between the hours of 07:15 and 08:30 AM a crime was committed...
The crime was the snarfing of several apples... then compounded by not finishing any of them.
Best estimate is 7-8 apples ruthlessly mauled and disposed of by these 2 little criminals.
Rules that were broken:
1. NO ONE is allowed to enter the kitchen until there is an adult on scene in the AM hours.
2. YOU take it, YOU finish it.
Reason Crime was discovered:
Some of the evidence found in the trash this morning:
Crime Scene #1: The Fruit Bowl
As you can see there were 4 apples last night when the adults retired, there are now 2.
Crime Scene #2:
Again several pieces of fruit are missing from the left-hand Fruit Bin.

Yes indeed that is the infamous 'blankie' belonging to Perp #1, abandoned at the scene. Closed right up in the fridge.
Perp #1... hanging himself with the evidence he himself left behind thus incriminating him:
There were 2 individuals involved and the evidence co-oberated the firthand witness reports.
Perp #1 (of the fridge) along with Perp #2 (of the fruit bowl):
