I have several other projects on the go that needed Cogs punched out leaving me with ALL sort of pretty little metallic circles...
What to do?
Thank-God for this weeks challenge!
I inked a Manila Tag in Teal then glued the scrap circles to it.

Kard Krazy: Tag Tuesday-Backgrounds

Backgrounds are the basis for any tag or project, but often backgrounds are beautiful in and of themselves. This week, create a tag that highlights the background that you've created through ink, stamps and inky techniques. Remember, don't cover it up! Use a minimum of embellishments, if any. We want to see that background shine through.

Well, well, well...
Anyone who's knows my style easily could have guessed I would dig out the Tim Holtz Gear Masks and gel-a-tins Shifting Gears stamps.
I started this Postcard with DCWV Once Upon a Time paper from the Matt Stack.
Masked it with Tim Holtz goodness and sprayed it down with Glimmer Mist. Flipping the damp masks over and pressing them onto the paper too. Waste not!
Then stamping more gears on in 2 shades of brown.
Bundle of gears and the sentiment: GET IT IN GEAR! stamps are Krafting Kimmies.
All edges inked for yet a yet more grunge look.

Flurry of activity here today... (long)

For those that follow along you know that my 3rd son has some serious medical mental issues.

We've come to the 'wall' on this, which means our *last* option is something called '6 North' at our local Children's Hospital. It's a 3-4 week in-patient program. They will strip him of all medications and observe, test etc... all in hopes of coming back with a clearer diagnosis and *knock on wood* some better treatment/medication options.
We were told we would be doing pre-stuff soon and then admitting would be in the new year. Apparently not.
I received a call Thursday and part way through I got the jist of it... He would be getting admitted THIS Monday (tomorrow). It turns out he was red-flagged through because of the Emergency Room trip we made when he was put on a disastrous combo of meds and subsequently tried to kill himself (almost 2 years ago). Things move slow here... I'm stunned this moved as quick as it did, but Thankful.
He will be there Sunday nights through to Friday evening, then we pick him hisup to come home Friday & Saturday nights... for 3 weeks, maybe 4. That means he'll still be in for his Birthday. :O( and quite possibly getting released the day before Our Wedding.
William is all cool with this. He packed his bag all by himself: 5 days clothes, stuffies, blanket, books and his Art Pad (my kid!). He thinks it's a big sleepover. He's 7 years old and he's more prepared than I am.
Mum, she's not doing so good.
We ALL need this to happen but I'm so sad that it's come to this.
I'll be leaving a part of my heart behind at the hospital.

Tonight I settled in a with a rare but much needed glass of wine in the Studio instead of watching the clock tick by. I got 3 challenge pieces done:


Kard Krazy: Tag Tuesday Challenge -- Scrapbook a Tag

Today's challenge evolves from a Family Heritage Album I've been working on. It got me thinking about creating a tag I could use as an embellishment for my album page and then became an idea for this week's theme.
So create a tag as you would a scrapbook page -- use a photo, add a background, a title, journal on it. Basically tell a story with your tag. The theme can be anything you'd like it to be. And this week it can be on paper (which I know will be a relief for many of you:)

I decided to 'scrap' the 3 newest pictures sent to us from our Betrothal Handfasting Ceremony last year.
Another excuse to drag out the Celtic stamps!

4 Postcards & an Inchie...

I've been having a *week* with da'boyz...
Despite them all being at camp during the day the evening have been, um... less than delightful.
As some of you know my 3rd son has some major medical issues,
ADHD & ODD being the tippy-top of the iceburg,
so 'change' is always difficult, even if it's fun change.
THIS... would be one of those weeks.
Despite the increase in 'issues' I did manage to get some Art done, just not posted.
This'll be a Blitz-Post, better to get it all up before I sucked under again! :O)

We are back in the WHITE heat of August with another fabulous challenge for you today! This week at Oh, Alice we are trying to BEAT that heat, and you know, they say you shouldn't wear dark colors this time of year to keep cool!

Tuesday Taggers: Sunshine
This weeks theme - Sunshine - and boy do we need the sun back :0)
When I dreamt up this theme I had the image of sunny days in the garden, sipping mint tea and inhaling the sweet smell of my newly planted flowers ......... ha ha! it really was a dream! Instead I think we have had dull cloudy days with downpours so heavy that we still have a water shortage because it has moved downstream too fast to fill up the reservoirs!!
Still we can live in hope of an Indian summer!
Despite all that I hope you're enjoying the summer

Still almost a month of good Summer here, Thank Goodness!
I've been waiting to do something with this Picture of my friend Brynn and I had my Betrothal Handfasting last year ... this was a Good Time. :O)

Kard Krazy: Tag Tuesday Challenge -- Crowns
I just finished creating this week's tag for the Tag Tuesday challenge when I noticed the same theme was being offered up over at the Gothic Arch challenge site. Oh, well, I guess we'll be seeing a lot of crowns this week!

This was started with a Free Digi-Stamp (unknown source & part of a larger sheet of quotes) I've also been just itching to use!
Swirls & Flourishes are Fancy Pants.
I just love the sentiment.
We are ALL deserving of being treated like royalty... we just need to be reminded sometimes.

Few more thing I finished last night but was to tired to post...
After the day with da'boyz being wild I thought I'd be tired, but it turned out I was wired instead. I was up til 7AM surfing around picking up some of the FREE Digi-Stamps there are out there. I'm getting a collection... slowly. ;O)

This was made with a 'real' rubber stamp set (Stampin'Up!). We have new neighbors moving in 2 doors down and when they were moving some of their sh-tuff in on Friday 'she' looked overly stressed... I thought a welcome card would be nice. :O)

Started by covering template in Clip-Art Background, then stamped it with the Gel-a-Tins 'Shifting Gears' set, finished by inking the edges.
Ribbon and mini-cameo at neck.
More ribbon, a gear (walkman), 2 'screw' brads, quite a few pieces of the Brass goodies I have, Key and Lock... at the waist.
Finished off with a bit'o'vintage lace.

Kard Krazy TagTuesday Challenge -- Christmas "Colors" in July

So for today's challenge I thought we would do Christmas "colors" in July. Which means to create a tag using the traditional Christmas colors of red and green -- but do NOT make it a Christmas tag. Bring these colors into a tag that has some other theme than Christmas.

The golden bells were off a broken Christmas ornament.

Now that the trial is over I can feel some of the tension loosening.

Week 29 - Shapes

This week we are looking at "Shapes" - interpret it anyway you like a shaped card, shapes on your work - whatever so long as you follow the theme.

Template came from Mirkwood.
Black & White 'Victoriana' clip-art sheet snipped and pasted on,
then sprayed with Glimmer Mist.
I wanted to get a fuzzing on the images so I went heavy.
Edged out in bark brown ink.

Kard Krazy: Tag Tuesday Challenge #59 -- Hearts

Tag Tuesday Challenge #59 -- Hearts

We are back today with a new challenge after the two-week summer challenge. Our new challenge today is "hearts." Simply incorporate a heart of some kind into your tag. Use whatever medium you like.

Usually I'd start with an image to collage, but alas...
my printer is toast so I had to step out of my usual crafty comfort zone.
I've been sorting and re-organizing my rather um... large collection of stamps.
So I grabbed a set I haven't had a chance to use yet. Stampin'Up! Wing it.
THIS tag is also a good example of why saving scraps and waste is good idea.



The paper is one of the white sheets I always grab when I'm Glimmer Misting.
I stamped the images in VersaMark then clear heat embossed them.
That 'seals' in the Glimmer Mist spray.


Then I used an ink soaked sponge to rub over the embossed images.
I used a couple of colors of ink on each image.
Then I cut the images out.


The Background is another waste sheet...
This one I was *trying* to stamp a background for another project, I just didn't like.
So... it became another spray sheet.
I stamped the SU! Canvas background on it and heat embossed.


Then I also rubbed several shades of a dark yellow, light orange over it.
A little Black in the middle where the cut-out elements were going.


Real Close-up, you can see the 'trapped' Glimmer Mist quite well in the wings...
but it's everywhere. :O)
The Stamped Quote is also cut from the same spray sheet as the other elements.
The last step was using 3D Crystal Lacquer on the Heart & Crown.

It's a Tag-y kinda day...

I decided it was time to dust off some of my urm... rather large, stamp collection and let them see some day-light. ;O)
I got 3 tags done for different challenges all using stamps.

Dragons Dream Tag It On: #46 Inchie by Inchie
This week I have dreampt in inchies - pieces one inch square or round.
So that is your challenge.
Choose your theme and 3 colours then make inchies to cover your tag.
Use at least one stamp and ENJOY!!!

I dug out a StampinUp! Set 'In Style'.
I used 3 colors of Glimmer Mist: Tuscan Sun, English Ivy and Blue Skies.
The Tag is sprayed with the yellow, the rest with a combination of all 3.
I sprayed a sheet of cardstock then cut it up to make the background, title and inchies.
All other elements are stamped in black and well as the edging.
...just my style!



Tuesday Taggers: Make a Scene!
Yep I want you to make a scene!
This theme can be interpreted in so many ways, having an argument, creating a stage, creating a scene with stamps - it's endless.

I mixed and matched a few stamps on this one. The bulk are from the Stampin'Up! 'Garden Seeds' set: dirt, sign post, Garden of Weedin' and smaller plants.
The larger flower bundle and butterfly is Penny Black.
Dragonfly is Studio G.
Leaves stamped on the tag itself... unknown.
Everything was colored with Stampin'Up! Markers.
Welcome to the Garden on Weedin'!



Kard Krazy: Tag Tuesday Challenge
Last week's challenge was a two-week challenge, The theme is still summer.

More and more Glimmer Mist here...
I used a scrap that had a touch of the green from the ...just me style! tag...
and sprayed it VERY liberally with yellows, oranges and reds to create a sunset 'feel'.
The Couple stamp in from Stampin'Up! 'Summer by the Sea' set,
the quote from 'Seaside Sketches'.
Everything was edges in brown and the tag was sprayed in blues.
