The theme is anything goes-your favorite things.

A lot of my favorite things are wrapped up in 'Steampunk', so that's the theme I went with. Started with a frame I pick-ed up free during a FreeCycle Give-Away Weekend. It was already painted silver, worn and battered: good start!
Used several rub-ons (balloon, typewriter and clock) and a few stamps (goggles, bee, #'s and STEAMPUNK). Then layered on the stuff...
Victorian boots, key and keyhole, flowers, gears, stamps and bling...

Anything goes with Acetate

Our theme for this weeks anything goes project is to use acetate!

Looked through the studio for anything acetate that tickled my muse, I found a card in my used stash: Pretty lil'violet on acetate, poi-fect!

Chopped it up and made an all new card with a shaker on it.
Card base is DCWV.
Lace from my stash.
Stamps and Inks from Stampin'Up!
Beadz from the $ store.
The rest is all from the original card.
Picture does it no justice but the card was varying shaded or shimmery Gold.

Punched the flower out and a 'frame' for the shaker:
Added a dimensional foam ring and 2 colors of purple beadz:
Baaad... picture of the assembled shaker.

Book of Days: January 31st

Super happy with how today's lil bit of the book turned out...
*squee* Favorite day so far!

Used a 4X6" piece of art I made for the Try it on Tuesday Blog Challenge yesterday and made a flippy part in my Book of Days. Today I got Happy Mail from Debbie Prewitt... yummy Celtic card and envelope wrapped around some even yummier supplies. As anyone who 'knows' me knows I LOVE Celtic. In order to save the gorgeous envelope I used it today on the flip-side of the 4X6 Art. My main goal this year with my Art is to use what I have and what comes my way... Today is a great example!

Double Good News... Happy Mail AND I've been asked to write up a tutorial for Toucan Scraps Tutorial Blog on how I make *my style* of Journal Pages. Have 2 write-up for the March issue of Scrapbooking.com to get written in the next 2 days then I'm going to start working away on that ASAP!
It's a goooood week. :O) and a GREAT end to January.

Speaking of tutorials this is how today unfurled:
First I ran a strip of masking tape along the back of the 4X6" art...

Then I flipped it over and glued the envelope to the back,
trimmed the excess away... This way the tape was covered up.

Then I painted light green over my address, let it dry then a daub of white too.
Journaled and then taped it into my Book of Days.

Tag Week - Resistance

So the theme today is Resistance and we'd like you to make a tag using a resistance technique, it doesn't matter which you use, it could be faux batik, a gesso resistance, versamark or any other ideas you have.

Arrrrg! Made a Pirate theme Tag.
Tag was rubbed with Red, Orange and Yellow inks...
Then stamped and embossed with clear embossing powder.
Lastly inked over again with Dark Grey and Black ink.
All stamps and inks are Stampin' Up!

lol... It looks very much like an Orange Peel up close!

Tag week - dig out the old!

The theme is to use a stamp you have had a long time but maybe never have used.
I'm sure there is something hiding that is begging to be played with so:
drag it out,
dust it off
and get stamping.

I dug out my Celtic Knots set from Stampin' Up! One of the very, very 1st sets I bought.
*HAD* to have!

Tag is sanded then inked over (Green over Brown)
I 1st rubbed the Glossy Cardstock in 5 greens.
Then stamped and Heat Embossed in clear.,
The added 2 browns over top. (Brown over Green)
Rubbing the excess away.
Then 'drew' over the images with a dark charcoal gray and wiped that off.
Messy but satisfying! ;O)

Background paper is American Craft.
Glossy Cardstock, Stamps, Inks, Marker and Embossing powder are all Stampin' Up!

I decided to alter a 6' X 9 1/2" Cutting Board.
I've been dying to make something 'Absinthe-y' to go with our ever growing Steampunk Decor.
I started by staining the board with 2 light coats of acrylic paint really, really watered down. I find this works great for picking up the grain in pine bases.
The edges are stamped with a Stampin' Up! Gear stamp (Sense of Time set).
Vintage poster images printed to size, cut then *really* sanded...
to get them looking more like old peeled off labels.
More ink around the edges.

The Item this week is a Tag and the scheme is Red Black and Cream.

I decided to keep my Tag clean and simple:
Classic, like the colors chosen.
Tag is 4 " in Diameter.
Both the Tag and the Overlay were cut by the SLICE.
Textured Red Cardstock by Bazzill. Cream Cardstock Unknown.
I dug into my *new* Steampunk stamp set from Inkadinkado (EK Success), used the largest Cog & Flourish Stamp.
The Clock and Sentiment Stamp is Micheal's Bin Find.

ahh... an excuse to Steampunk!
I got my inspiration from our 'Family Steampunk Wall'.
Made up of Family Photos and the lovely Clock we fell in love with from Chapters.
The photos are from our Dickinson Shoot (taken at Christmas) we all wore our Steampunk clothes, minus the goggle and guns for the Holidays!
Framed in mismatched metallic frames, no duplicates.
The larger two are also matted in Gear Stamped paper.
Our walls are painted in Golden Day (love that name!) by Behr
and our parlor couch is also gold.

Which led me to make this...

Card Base is The Paper Company.
Stamps are Krafting Kimmie.
Inks, Gear Punch and Markers are Stampin' Up!
Silver Textured Cardstock is DCWV.
Clock face is XL Ghost by Heidi Swapp.
Peeps are fussy cut and laid over the Clock face,
everything else is layered under it.

I Re vamped an IKEA framed mirror.
I started by carefully cutting the glue away around the mirror (in the back) and removing it from the frame, setting it aside so it wouldn't get messy or damaged.
I then 'wallpapered' the frame with textured and flocked patterned paper (unsure of brand, stash grab).
Blingage is Prima (cut apart).
All the Collage elements were 1st fussy cut, then coated in 3D Crystal Lacquer, as was the quote strip.
Finishing by reattaching the mirror to the frame.

My Christmas crafting mess is still not fully cleared way, but it's not too early to start on Valentines. So for this week's challenge we will be making Valentine Tags.
Please feel free to use any medium you'd like or create any style of Valentine.

I started with a standard Manila Shipping Tag...
inked and stamped it with Gel-a-Tins: Get in Gear set.
Then I added some Steamy-Art I got online:

Printed to fit and also inked.
I coated the heart in 2 thick layers of 3D Crystal Lacquer... I tried to get a picture that showed it so hence the MEGA close-up shot below. ;O)
Finishing off with 2 Screw Brads, some yarn and a scrap of Vintage lace.

Onto this weeks theme and its a poem challenge. With Burns night on the horizon it seemed appropriate to have a poetry theme. So we would like to see an Inspired by piece and as its week 3 you can choose what format it takes so card, scrapbook page, tag, atc, altered art - whatever takes your fancy or fires your imagination.

Try it on Tuesday: A New Beginning...

Welcome bloggers to the new look of our challenge.

The first thing you may have noticed is that we have changed our name!

We decided as we were no longer just a tag blog we needed to rethink our image and name.

So what will the changes be?

Our first change will be that we will have set challenges each week. We have worked on a four weekly cycle so

Week 1 - Is a card week. Our team will set a theme for you to make a card to play along.

Week 2 is tag week - again a theme will be set for you to make a tag.

Week 3 is anything goes - any project around the theme set for that week.

Week 4 is an altered art week. Now because altered art can take more planning and work we will give you the theme for the altered art at the beginning of each month so you have time to think and plan before the actual altered art week.

Now those clever folks among you will realize that sometimes we have 5 weeks in a month!

So those extra weeks will be a Wild Card week! Could be absolutely anything but something quite away from our usual challenges.

It may sound a bit complicated now but hang with us and you will soon get the jist!

So here we are at Week 1

and you must make a card for this challenge

and the theme is

New Beginnings

So think along the lines of new year, new house, new job, new baby, new hubby - whoops maybe not the last one!

This project is a card (the other 2 are Postcards) celebrating my new husband.

This is a picture of our Wedding Rings which are Elvish Love Rings,
the inscription (in Elvish) reads:
One ring to show our love
One ring to bind us
One ring to seal our love
And forever to entwine us

I also made this Postcard... just messing around...
I over sanded so it's short a corner (oops).
