Good-Bye 2010 & Personal FavoriteTop 10 Projects.

Ahh... another Year draws to a close.
2010 was a very, very good year for us.
We celebrated a wedding, a new job, passing probation with that new job, MAJOR positive progress with both of our Special Needs kids, Grade 6 Graduation and *gulp* teenager-dom (or is that teenager-DOOM) beginning, rediscovery of Steampunk... quickly become an addiction with the whole family especially wee ones (all their LEGO is 'Steampunk this, Steampunk that...' now...lol), placement on 3 design teams, creative challenges won, guest spots, court case resolved, negative people cleared from our lives, positive people entering, spiritual renewal, healing in many forms, the forging of a new family unit, positive school changes, community at it's best and good Karma bringing us into the close and onto the New Year.
We are looking forward to an even better 2011!

These are not necessarily ones I won Challenges with or even Design Team Layouts BUT they are ones I put a little bot of my heART & Soul into and are therefore just a wee bit *more* of me.

Bad Girls Project 52 #12... 3D House.

I finally got the latest Bad Girls Project 52 Challenge done.

3~D Homes: {paper, board, fabric, box, metal etc.

Any material choice. All sides must be considered, Art in the round!!}

THEME: Dreams {past/present/future, actualized or not, night/day etc.}

REQUIRED MATERIAL: Buttons {any type/shape/size/number/color/material}

This is my take...

Welcome to Wits' End

I started with the roof... it's a coffee filter (3 actually) sprayed liberally with Indian Corn Glimmer Mist, then sprayed with clear coat shellac (lots & lots & lots) to stiffen it.

The house is a coffee can (Maxwell House... ew!) I painted with 2 coats of tan acrylic paint. I then wrapped a trimmed-to-fit Starbucks Bag around it. I really like the way it crinkled up... I put the bag on before the paint was totally dry (impatient! lol) and it looks really neat-o. The chimney is part of a Starbucks straw with a bit of torn lace 'smoke'.

The front door is part of Starbucks cup wrap (backwards) with a button door and ribbon hinges. Buttons for a walk-way... and climbing roses reaching up from the gardens... 'Gardens' created with Dried Flowers & Moss.

The base is a bio-degradable Planter Liner (like paper mache...) turned upside down.

Welcome to Wits' End sign... Popsicle stick punched with a Crop-o-Dile. Eyelets, broken necklace chain and brads finish it off...

The field of Baking Cup and Button flowers was inspired by THIS video. I found the mini-Cups and just had to get them... so cute!
Bunny in residence... of course!

The Mill Wheel is a piece out of the inside of a broken VCR-tape... the 'water' is blanket binding.


The Quote on the Starbucks bag is what inspired me for the 'Dream' Theme...
I loooooove fleurs & gardening & coffee! They are in my dreams quite often. ;O)


The field of daisies are Martha Stewart Wedding Confetti and the natural of the planter base.

Bad Girls Project 52 #11: Domestic Goddess!!!

Bad Girls don't cry...
Well unless they burn themselves many, many... many times with the Glue-Gun.
Ouchie!
*sucking several of my fingers*
I don't think I've ever used as much glue on any other project!
You'll see why below. LOTS of pictures because there is LOTS to see.

The Requirements this round are:
*3D Jointed Figure as Subject
* God or Goddess as Theme
* Fiber (yard, ribbon, thread etc...) as Material

I started with a body base I got for $2 at the $ store, it's a dresser top jewelry hanger. Snipped all the wires off, added some Barbie arms (YES, again Barbies WERE harmed in the making of this project) and a porcelain dolls head.
Glue, glue and more glue...

Neatly covered all the 'seams' with some lovely girl-y marabou.
The hands are holding what any Good Goddess worth her salt needs to keep her radiant...
Mirror, curling iron, brush and a hair dryer.

This is a full body view of both the Front and Back. Warned ya' it was busy!
Just like any Domestic Goddess she is busy, busy, busy...
juggling many, many things...
and all with style!

I LOVE this detail... a Girls Gotta Look Her Best!
The conditioning mud mask was done with Liquid Applique and a teeny-tiny brush.

The whole Mop (fabric scraps, toy rubber and a broken paint-brush handle) and the Laundry Basket with Folded Clothes. The clothes are various Barbie/Bratz free-cycle rescues. Having 4 boys, not much use for them here so I snagged them for something just. like. this. Basket came from an Easter Gift and the Clothes pins are more $ store goodies.

Every Girl has gotta have some FAB shoes... and a mirror to check her tootsies out in!
Ribbon 'scarf' draped over the mirror & Tote-Bag rescued off a greeting card.

I love how well the Ribbon folded up to make the Bolts of Fabric!
The proverbial Grocery List... as long as her arm.
