This is my 1st challenge of the New Year... got a chance to sit down today for the 1st time in 2012 and actually *read* through my blog roll. This one popped out right away!
Page is not my usual styling: It's clean-crisp-simple and pink... but I like it. ;O)
Used a few lines of lyrics and pictures of myself from the past 4+ years. They are in order on the layout. There are 8 because it's lucky if there are even 2 a year I actually 'like'. Kinda the point, bit of a kick in the Can reminder to myself... as the song says.

New Paint (Firework Orange... I just love that I have *Fireworks* on the walls! lol),

I DID get into the Steampunk Gallery Show I'd applied for!!!
The Gallery Owner called and said the project was one of the best ones he'd seen and asked if I had anything else I could show him. I sent pictures of the other Steampunk things I still had on hand and he asked for 2 other pieces.
Soooo...
From Saturday February 26th - March 26th
I'll have 3 pieces in
The Penny Dreadful: A Steampunk Art Show
at the 187 Gallery in North Bay.
I'm thrilled & scared... lol.
All 3 projects have already been tenderly packed and sent off.

My page is on the theme of 'Sibling Love': The quintessential Love/Hate relationship. I've plans to pick away at our Wedding Album through 2011 (Read: Expect more Wedding Pages!), it seemed the perfect time to Scrap these 2 pictures. That's my Husband: Greg with his 2 younger siblings: Joey & Alicia. During the photo shoot Joey decided to get sassy and grabbed Alicia, so Greg grabbed Joey aaaaand... so the story goes. Picture Proof! Pattern Paper, Stickers and Journal Block are all Little Yellow Bicycle: Lucky Me. I bought a TON of this so the album will be as consistent as I can make it. Rub-ons and 'enjoy the moment' stamp are Daisy Bucket. Other Stamps are 7 Gypsy's: Family. Ink is Stampin' Up! Bling is $1 store leftovers from the wedding. We put 1 big Gem in the Middle of each Program, leaving me with quite a few sheets of extra Bling in the other sizes.

I Glimmer Misted the blue Cardstock with Green & Dark Blue.
Then stamped Celtic Knotwork (Stampin' Up!) here & there in Gold.
I only inked the stamps sporadically, I wanted a faded 'gold leaf' look.
I also rubbed Gold ink behind the LUCKY Lace Cut Out Title.
Dragonfly Brads and Gold photo corners are unknown.
Gold mini-brads are Stampin' Up!
Girl in title is Thickers.
All other elements (stickers, journal block etc...) are Little Yellow Bicycle: Lucky Me.

What a perfect challenge with Valentine's Day being celebrated this month!

Great chance to scrap some 'lost photos' that didn't end up scrapped last year.
Started with Black Cardstock and printed off 2 strip of photos, matting them as 1 'picture' each.
Inked the mats and also inked the Large Heart I cut for the Title/Journal Block.
I dug out my ancient Creative Memories Blade Cartridge Set for this... dusty!
Title is a mix of stamps (Close to my Heart, Stampology) and Stickers (American Crafts and Creative Memories) and ink (Stampin'Up!).
Finished up with some $ store Bling-age and Pink Paint Splatters.

Ahh... another Year draws to a close.
2010 was a very, very good year for us.
We celebrated a wedding, a new job, passing probation with that new job, MAJOR positive progress with both of our Special Needs kids, Grade 6 Graduation and *gulp* teenager-dom (or is that teenager-DOOM) beginning, rediscovery of Steampunk... quickly become an addiction with the whole family especially wee ones (all their LEGO is 'Steampunk this, Steampunk that...' now...lol), placement on 3 design teams, creative challenges won, guest spots, court case resolved, negative people cleared from our lives, positive people entering, spiritual renewal, healing in many forms, the forging of a new family unit, positive school changes, community at it's best and good Karma bringing us into the close and onto the New Year.
We are looking forward to an even better 2011!

Scrapping the Music Challenge: #161 "Suds In The Bucket"

We are changing gears on your this week with a knee-slappin country song called "Suds In The Bucket" by Sara Evans!!!
We had tons of fun scrapping with this song and hope it inspires you to join in and play along with us!

I started with Burgundy textured (striped) Cardstock.
I stamped some Gears from the Gel-a-tins 'Shifting Gears' set in dark brown around the edges.
(What?! it said changing gears!!!! You knew that was going to get me Steampunking! lol)
Then I glimmer misted it in dark red... heating it with a Heat Gun while it was still wet, did this really close so that I charred the paper.I ONLY do this when it's still very wet so it doesn't catch fire!
The next layer is a sheet of Graphic 45 'Steampunk Debutante' pattern paper.
I ripped it, glimmer misted and and also charred it with the Heat Gun. I really worked around the edges to get curling and a dark rim.
Pictures are sanded and framed on sanded black Cardstock.
Clock Face is Heidi Swapp, glimmer misted on the back and heated for some warping.
Hands are off a real clock, attached with a large Brad.
Mirror Bird was from the $ store.
Tag from 7 Gypsies sanded and Glimmer Misted.
Red Hemp string is Stampin' Up!
Brass Butterfly is from a lot of 'de-golded' jewelry I bought awhile back.Flowers are all Prima, also treated with the Heat Gun for an aged look.
Key and Lock Hole are Keepsakes.
Black Bling is Say it with Crystals.

I was diagnosed with Seasonal Affective Disorder last year.
It came as no surprise.
I am a different person during the summer months... some could and would say I'm solar powered.
During the winter, but most especially the later
fall (October/November) I get grumpy, moody,
weepy and the zest for life that was there all
summer seems to fade much like the summer
colors.
So now I spend the fall and winter months
surrounding myself with bright, glorious colors
and basking in front of a a special light.
I AM going to live my life.

Scrapping the Music: Upside Down

It's movie theme week, and this time we are paying tribute to the lovable movie Curious George! The theme song is "Upside Down" by Jack Johnson, and we think it's an awesome song for scrapping!!! We hope you agree and want to play along with us this week!

I LOVE this song... we have a few Curious George Fans in this house. ;O)
I started with white Card-stock and Glimmer Misted it into a Rainbow.
Then I stamped 'doodles' down the center.
Pictures are lightly sanded then edged in black ink, so are the journal blocks.
Paintbrushes are sniped out clip-art. Paint swirls are stickers.

Scrapping the Music: We are Going to be Friends...

The months just fly by, don't they?
It's already time for movie week again!
This month we are paying tribute to the movie "Napoleon Dynamite," with the song "We Are Going To Be Friends" by the White Stripes! We hope you enjoy the song as much as we did!!! - it's got a ton of scrappable lyrics, and the timing seems appropriate with school starting up again in September for lots of folks!

No surprise I've had William in the forefront of most things this past week.
The In-Patient program is going ok, he's not suffering. VERY much not suffering...
They try to make it as fun as possible between all the pokes, prod and tests. He's home for the weekend and crowing to his brothers about picking whatever he wants to eat (off a menu), a room to himself and tons of LEGO (no sharing!). There is still much to do in the next 2-3 weeks he's there but already the decided to try some alternate medication. He was "a bit much" the 1st 2 night. lol... we told them. I'm just happy to have him home, we even get and extra day because it's Labour Day Weekend.

I decided to scrapbook this picture of William. It's one of my favorites... our Nature Boy!
No matter where we go he's into the sidelines... poking around at plants and looking for bugs and other critters. Pocket check before laundry can be... um,... gross, some days. ;OP

ADHD is only part of ME... oh boy! Believe in Yourself.

I LOVE this song... well, pretty much anything by Jason Mraz!
Ironically while working on this 'Lucky' which he sings with Colbie Caillat came on the Radio, which is 'OUR' song. :O)
Greg may love me but he's also likely to keeeeel me for using the High School Picture... tee, heee, heee... whoops!
