Three Muses - Newspaper

Three Muses - Newspaper

I can't wait to see what all of you have done with the newspaper!

*********
Was delighted to see the topic this week...
So much so that I made these a few days ago!

Held off on posting til the challenge was 'officially' up so it could be linked up (click text above) for anyone else wanting to give it a whirl. ;o)

I used The Epoch Times paper that I can grab locally many, many places around Ottawa. I snag one now and then because they make gorgeous backgrounds in Art Journals or say on...
hmmm... Postcards! lol
I added Japanese Butterfly clipart.
Stamps are Fancy Pants.
Red Glimmer Mist is Tattered Angels.
All inks are Stampin' Up!

Three Muses: Windows

The Three Muses Challenge - WINDOWS

This week's theme is WINDOWS.
*********

My piece is a 4X6" Postcard.

The image is a photo I took from inside the main mausoleum at Beechwood Cemetery when we went to 'visit' my grandparents. We stayed for almost 3 hours walking around as a family, all 4 cameras going... lots of great pictures of the old stonework, stones and the gorgeous gardens.

THREE MUSES #98 - KEYS

There are so many directions to take this week's challenge,

I am anxious to see how everyone interprets it!

I somehow managed to NOT Steampunk this theme...
Surprised?
I know I am! lol

All our lives we live in chains and never even know we hold the key.

Postcard:
Clipart from the hoard.

Key is coated in 3D Crystal Lacquer so it's all shiny and puffy.

Year of the Rabbit YingYang Postcard

THREE MUSES 88 - BLACK AND WHITE

You might be thinking in terms of a pure black and white piece and that's good, or gone zetti with black and white stripes and lots and lots of color and that is also good, or maybe you will surprise us and show us something else entirely.
So remember everyone and all mediums are welcome and all we ask is that you have fun and show us what you create.

***********************
My brain went straight to a YingYang symbol since I've been reading about the Chinese Zodiac.
We are now in Year of the Rabbit.
I myself am a Wood Rabbit.
I decided to um, tweak my Symbol a bit.
Used a 2 1/2" Circle Punch to start,
then 1/4" Circle Punch for the eyes,
the ears are cut from Heart Punches,
all in Cardstock.
Back ground is part of a School Stock Image.
Edges are inked in Gold then Heat Embossed.

The Three Muses - Artist of Choice

The Three Muses - Artist of Choice

My Pick was Greg Hildebrandt.
http://www.brothershildebrandt.com
I've been enchanted with his work ever since I started collecting cards when I was very, very young. I still have my whole Greg Hildebrandt set from the 80's. I also have a copy of The Phantom of the Opera illustrated in his sketches and paintwork... they're gorgeous.
He has illustrated 4 years running of The Lord of the Rings calender, many Pin-Up works, Childrens books, The Star Wars New Hope poster and many, many, many of Magic: The Gatherings RPG Game cards.
I gathered some snips of pictures that I remember most and a pencil sketch he made of himself together in this Artist Postcard.

The Three Muses Challenge - OLD FASHIONED

The Three Muses Challenge - OLD FASHIONED

The theme for this week's challenge is OLD FASHIONED. This should give a wide scope for having some fun with old images. Old fashioned doesn't have to mean vintage. Fashion crimes have been committed in every decade.

*************************************
I made a 4X4 quoting the ever quotable Dr. Seuss:
"They say I'm old-fashioned,
and live in the past,
but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast!"
Clip-Art collection background and a picture of the man himself
on cereal-board and inked, inked, inked. :OD

THREE MUSES #81 - ODD COUPLE

Challenge for you for this week is to create an ODD COUPLE. You could mix and match with animals and people to create something very odd, or give your old grandma and grandpa a steampunk makeover OR may be you will create a very interesting ODD COUPLE that will take us all by surprise.

I went a little 'generational' with my Postcard...

Janice was perfectly content to stay near home
But Carl...
Carl really wanted to get out and see the world!

Peace & Roses...

4x4 Friday: Peace

Peace is this week's 4x4 Friday challenge.
Make time for peaceful moments this holiday season.
Enjoy!

I enlarged a Blog Icon printing it on glossy photo paper...
then rubbed ink in and wet it with a bit of water to blend.
Black Sharpie 'frame'.
A healthy sentiment to remind myself of as the holiday hullabaloo goes on & on & on...

I'm late!
I had it done but didn't post in time...
Still here it is.
One of my favorite quotes/sentiments and I agree 110% with it!

*le sigh*

Three Muses: Shoes!

Hi, it's me Ann and it's my turn to host here at the Muses
this week and I've chosen SHOES as my theme.

I went a little more 'pointed' with my piece (har, har, har...).
Picture from a shoe ad.
Heel is coated in 3D Crystal Lacquer for some *POP*.
Postcard is edged in bright Lipstick Pink Ink.
Stiletto,
I look at it more as an attitude'as opposed to a high-heeled shoe.

Three Muses #77: Automobile

Three Muses #77: Automobile
An excellent excuse to use one of my favorite quotes:

A suburban mother's role is to deliver children obstetrically once,

and by car forever after.

~Peter De Vries~

Postcard image is from an ad for the car.

Sprayed with Glimmer Mist, mounted on Box Board and inked the edges.

30 days and counting down FAST!

The Studio has been busy... but my Blog has not.
I'm busy working ahead on Design Team Projects so that I won't fall behind as the Wedding QUICKLY approaches.
30 days... Today make it 30 days til W-DAY.
I'm excited, don't get me wrong... but also Freaked. lol
This is 98% DIY event and there is still sooooo much to do/make!
*gulp*

I'll be starting to share some of the wedding-y sh-tuff as it's created.
Minus the things that are surprises just in case anyone is being snoopy. ;OP
(You know who you are!!! ...and so do I! lol)
I'm cutting back on several of my 'just for moi' challenges. :O(
I'm going to have to pick & choose in and around the DT & Wedding sh-tuff.
I did get this done tonight though:

THREE MUSES 65 - WORLD OF ZETTI

Hi it's me Ann and this week my challenge to you is to create something from the WORLD OF ZETTI.

I hope my creation is 'Zetti' enough...
I'm not sure if I have much Zetti-ism in me creatively speaking... lol.
I made Alice.

4 Postcards & an Inchie...

I've been having a *week* with da'boyz...
Despite them all being at camp during the day the evening have been, um... less than delightful.
As some of you know my 3rd son has some major medical issues,
ADHD & ODD being the tippy-top of the iceburg,
so 'change' is always difficult, even if it's fun change.
THIS... would be one of those weeks.
Despite the increase in 'issues' I did manage to get some Art done, just not posted.
This'll be a Blitz-Post, better to get it all up before I sucked under again! :O)
*glub-glub*

Oh, Alice!
CHAPTER 25: White Rabbit, White Gloves, White Wonderland...

"After a time she heard a little pattering of feet in the distance, and she hastily dried her eyes to see what was coming. It was the White Rabbit returning, splendidly dressed, with a pair of white kid gloves in one hand and a large fan in the other: he came trotting along in a great hurry, muttering to himself as he came, `Oh! the Duchess, the Duchess! Oh! won't she be savage if I've kept her waiting!'
Alice felt so desperate that she was ready to ask help of any one; so, when the Rabbit came near her, she began, in a low, timid voice, `If you please, sir--' The Rabbit started violently, dropped the white kid gloves and the fan, and skurried away into the darkness as hard as he could go..."

~Alices Adventures in Wonderland, Chapter 2

Hello dolls!
We are back in the WHITE heat of August with another fabulous challenge for you today! This week at Oh, Alice we are trying to BEAT that heat, and you know, they say you shouldn't wear dark colors this time of year to keep cool!
In the spirit of that, along with our WHITE Rabbit and his WHITE kid gloves, guess what our challenge is for you today?
That's RIGHT. WHITE WONDERLAND. And we're not talkin' about Christmas! Your mission today, should you choose to accept it is to create (WITH the exception of your main image panel) an ALL WHITE card or project!

*giggle*
I LOVE what I did... he's SO cute and pat-able.
White Rabbit Postcard...
Low pile fur mounted on Cereal Box Board, face elements are off a print-able childrens face mask and the eyes are brads.

The Three Muses Challenge - Doors
The theme this week is DOORS. A door in art can create many moods - mystery and menace or a feeling of safety and warmth. It is a great prop for great pictures. I hope you will enjoy our challenge this week.

I hope Rachel McAdams doesn't mind me borrowing her forehead as an example...
:O)

Tuesday Taggers: Sunshine
This weeks theme - Sunshine - and boy do we need the sun back :0)
When I dreamt up this theme I had the image of sunny days in the garden, sipping mint tea and inhaling the sweet smell of my newly planted flowers ......... ha ha! it really was a dream! Instead I think we have had dull cloudy days with downpours so heavy that we still have a water shortage because it has moved downstream too fast to fill up the reservoirs!!
Still we can live in hope of an Indian summer!
Despite all that I hope you're enjoying the summer

Still almost a month of good Summer here, Thank Goodness!
I've been waiting to do something with this Picture of my friend Brynn and I had my Betrothal Handfasting last year ... this was a Good Time. :O)
Shimmer didn't photograph well but the brass sun and all around the page have been Pearl Effects-ed.

Kard Krazy: Tag Tuesday Challenge -- Crowns
I just finished creating this week's tag for the Tag Tuesday challenge when I noticed the same theme was being offered up over at the Gothic Arch challenge site. Oh, well, I guess we'll be seeing a lot of crowns this week!

This was started with a Free Digi-Stamp (unknown source & part of a larger sheet of quotes) I've also been just itching to use!
Swirls & Flourishes are Fancy Pants.
I just love the sentiment.
We are ALL deserving of being treated like royalty... we just need to be reminded sometimes.

Small World of Inchies & Twinchies: Ladies.
I'm back again with a new theme!
Hope you will like this one, it's a easy theme: 'Ladies'.
Make some very small art with some ladies.
Stamping, digital art, paint...
Just use your imagination!
Have fun!

All I can say to that quote is:
AMEN!
Preach it sista!
;O)

Only 3 more days to get your comment added to the BLOG CANDY post!!!

Head over:

for all the deets!!!
Don't miss out.
