2015 Multi-Journal ...and Happy New Year!!!

Kinda got lost after YEAH!! The book is coming out with MY ART in it hoopla in November. 

It did come...

Multi-Journal

I have never ever EVER been good at following directions to a T... 

My muse butts in and goes 'hmmm... this would look good too, just tweak this a weeeee bit, oh yeah but THIS, THIS is awesome... Do that!' and off we go on a merry creative side-trip. 

Soooo despite being signed up to participate in several Art Journal-y things I'm going to do my own thing, My own way and cram them ALL in 1 BOOK because I'm stubborn, a bit lazy, prone to loose things and don't want a bunch of books on the go.

Simple... 

Once you get a system going and I Fookin' ROCK at Art Journal systems. 

Each of the Weekly spreads will look like this:

...and THIS is The Journal it's ALL getting stuffed in.

It's so skinny right now but don't worry it will get FAT, and fat is GOOD. 

Choose the Bigger Weekly Moleskin (aprox 7 1/2" X 9 3/4") size.

Started by taking the Monday-Friday section and cutting it in 1/2 so that all 7 days are the same size... This leaves a nice slot to add the Prompts to each week. 

Set up a document on my computer pre-loaded to the dimensions so I can erase the last week, drop in the new week, print, cut and paste in the same slot each week.

Ta-Da! Easy-Peasy...

Starting to add the days...

I do this AFTER the day, a way of Chronicling what's happened after the fact. 

My goal is to use bits of everyday things, hopefully from that day if I can, to fill in the 1 1/2 " X 3 1/2" DAILY Spots. Like the Pizza Hut day: Used a piece I cut off one of the kids paper mats they gave them to draw on at the restaurant.

Inside of Front Cover:

My 2015 Word for the Year is SHINE. 

Printed off the dictionary definitions, pasting them in and starting to play... highlighting, circling, squaring, underlining... Also covered one definition: Nasty use of the word as a racial slur-slang wise... DO NOT need that kinda negative sh-tuff 1st page in, Nope-Nope! Shimmer and Sparkle Tape to the rescue, lol. Plan to add more journaling as things develop with The WORD over the year.

Included the photo I took for 1st Hone Life prompt: FRESH after playing with it a bit on http://www.picmonkey.com/ . Under that added quick high-lights of 2014 and General Goals for 2015.

Week 1 Spread:

General spread done using prompts from Journal 52, TDLP and P and C.

Pasted in dictionary book pages, covered in water and Gesso, picked word out here and there from the pages, highlighted and outlined... Then used them to create Journaling on Goal Setting and HAPPY. 2015 Pathway leading to 2015 Word: SHINE. 

Lots and Lots of writing! Then the Sharpie Factory puked on my page.

'Cause one of my happy-ies is of course... COLOR and LOTS of it. 

EVENTS Spread:

Rescued this yummy Clock covered wrapping paper from one of #2 son's berf-day presents. Too perrrrty to waste. Pasted it in with no plans... a day later *bing* I knew! 
Added blank papers, inked for more pretty, to record BIG events as they happen -Big Whoo-Hoo!'s, Weddings, MAJOR world happenings... and the like.  That way at the end there will be an easy at-a-glance LIST of things that happened in 2015 and when they happened. 

Nifty!

A Year in the Life of an Art Journal: Monday Mugshot Collaboration Jan 15th

PROMPT:
New Year's resolutions or ONE WORD. Do you make New Year's resolutions, or take part in the ONE WORD project?

SHOOTERS:
Shoot your mug with your word or something that symbolizes your word. Some ideas would be to take a picture of your mug on top of a page with your word on it, or a trinket that reminds you of that word, or your mug in a setting that reminds you of your word. If your word was say, TRANQUILITY, you might take a picture of a mug in a window looking out into a garden)
Shooters, you can share your shots from this prompt on Monday Mugshots facebook page on the 21st of this month!  

 

BOOKERS:
Use watercolors on your page to emulate your word... (if you don't have water colors, watered down acrylic paint will do just fine.) use color to convey that word and what it means to you. While your paint is WET, sprinkle salt on it, and let it sit. When your paint is dry, brush off the salt. (people taking part in the creative prompt can put their mugshot for this prompt on this page.)

My Word for the year is:
Divine
... as in my search for.

That for me, so far, has meant lots and lots and lots... did I say lots? of reading... x-eyed late into the night and then more and more, usually over coffee which is dearly needed after those late nights ...and of course ART!

Just played with this layout. It's in the old Math textbook I started altering for A Year in the Life of an Art Journal last year... I'm hoping to get it all filled this year. 

1st it was a mess of collage images, sprayed and painted over.

Then stenciled over the 'mess' with white paint, flipping the stencil over to get an opposing image on the opposite page. Wanted the 'duality' of divinity I'm working with this year. 

Then I added the dictionary definition for Divine center... squirted watercolor tube paint around in a rainbow formation and finger painted them on. ooooo... messy goodness!

Spritzed it down with some silver paint in water and added the salt.

Then came the waiting... and waiting... and waiting... for it to dry. 

But it was worth it! Oh the lovely textures and shading. YUM

I love how the definition of Divine  is all hazy and soft... and it also glows out from the center breaking through to the darkness that surrounds the page. 

No additional journaling required. The message I got from this is clear.

Scrap Our Stash Design Team: January NEW Challenge

New Year... New Word of the Year.
For the past 2 years I've not made New Years 'resolutions' but instead chosen a 'Word of the Year' to guide me through the 12 months ahead. Previously they've been 'Create' and last year was 'Home'... both helped me so much focusing my energies to reach toward multiple goals.
This year is: Space.

Started this layout with paper I've been hoarding... it's just so pretty. Lovely Kraft Cardstock paper from My Mind's Eye Life Stories Pad. Though I love how it looks I wasn't sure what to do with it (we all have *those* papers don't we?) it looked 'all done' already.

Across the bottom are a picture of me and some clip-art images representing just a few of the 'Space' things I want to work towards this year: Life, In Home, Freedom, Finding and Financial.
Almost everything on this LO was sized and printed to 'fit' inside the sections already laid out on the Pattern Paper.

Sized and Printed the 'official' dictionary definitions of Space to fit along the side. Listed under 'Supporting Material' (Photo, Memorabilia or Additional Documentation) on the Paper.

Wanted a real office-y, file feel so in addition to gluing it on I stapled it.
When everything was on I spattered some light brown glimmer mist on (coffee colored) and messed it all up with a kleenex rubbed on a light brown ink pad. Some finger prints too!

The middle section was made up suing 2 sheets I ripped out of a small art-pad and made to look like they were held in with paperclips.

The General Information section was filled in with printed papers to look like filing stickers.

Vintage edge shading, some 'stickers and added journaling: Space: the Word of the Year. This is the artwork of the Artist Sarah Cooper. Her one-year mission: to explore this word, to seek out it’s meanings and build upon these things, to boldly go where no one has gone before…

The coffee ring is legit, it was made with the bottom of a mug 'painted' with the glimmer mist. An inked thumbprint for good measure, then the last thing added was some 'file notes' along the side.

Now it's your turn to take the January NEW Challenge.
